Excellent, now we have found this place, we wouldn’t stop anywhere else on our frequent journeys  to Spain, Ruth is a great hostess, and has clearly poured her love into renovating her beautiful property, and has all the personal little touches that are so often missed by many other hotels, the beds are so very comfortable, the linen luxurious, as are the rooms. Perfect hotel 😊 excellent value for money 👍

Stunning property

Ideal for a short stay or longer passage in this very comfortable Gite. Fantastic garden, swimming pool available, very friendly host, and enjoyable breakfast in the morning. We took the occasion to visit the medieval city centre, la Couvertoirade and the gorges de Dourbie.

Great stay in Le Caylar

Cannot overstate how happy my wife and i were with our stay.  Ruth, the owner, was as affable and helpful as other reviewers have written and the room we stayed in was as near perfect as we have experienced in France or, indeed, anywhere in Europe.  We are now working on planning a return trip.

Most enjoyable

The apartment was perfect. It was clean, comfy, spacious and all around brilliant. It was by far the best place I stayed in through out my travels across France and Spain and it was for a great price to. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here.

Excellent experience.

We had a fabulous stay in this amazing property as always. This must have been our fourth stay here en route to Spain. The village acts as a motorway stopping point with fuel, nice restaurant and enormous Tesla recharging station but Caylar is a very pretty village which we have never managed to explore. Super clean, well appointed, self catering apartment even with English tv. Perfect

Amazing as always

First of all, I barely speak French, so it was a great comfort to me that Ruth, the owner and operator, is a native English speaker in addition to speaking French, which is rare in this neck of the woods. She is so extremely kind, pleasant and hospitable, and made every effort to make sure our arrival and stay went well. We couldn’t be happier with our stay.

Her place is charming surrounded by trees and a pool. We were upgraded to an apartment which was very comfortable and clean. She helped us get our much needed laundry started right away. 

She kindly advised us where dine in town and we ended up at cute little family run spot. 

The beds were very comfortable and I slept very well.  In the morning we opted for the 7€ breakfast that she brings to your room. It was just right! 

Ruth was a great help getting us to the sights. Her place is so close to the Templar Village. We loved walking around and looking in the shops.

Ruth even walked us at the bus to make sure we didn’t miss it! 

I highly recommend Gites du Caylar. 

( note: If you don’t have a car I recommend you arrive by bus from Montpelier. It’s only 1.60€ !! )



A Fantastic Place to Stay - Highest Reccomendation.

The location is picturesque, the rooms are large and very comfortable, the bedding soft.  Free Wi-fi, beautiful and large bathrooms - ours was a jetted tub!  Ruth, the owner, is welcoming and knowledgeable of the area.  And the breakfast was delicious - local and filling.  100% would recommend AND come back again!
