Booked a room for the two of us and our baby. Asked the night before arrival if our baby could join dinner. Been told babies are not allowed because they could damage ‘precious and unreplacable’ furniture. Nowhere on their website or booking dot com is mentioned that children are not allowed. Very bad example of hospitality.

Last minute cancelation by host

A wonderful stop off en route to the South of France! Beautiful house - the rooms and dining room were so charmingly decorated. We stayed in the interconnecting rooms Le Grenetier and La Comtesse which was perfect for the family. 
A warm welcome from Arjan, a stroll around the village and then a delicious dinner from Rene really made our first night back in France for 3 years absolutely perfect! Breakfast was equally delicious and set us up for the second leg of our journey. 
Overall we would thoroughly recommend!

Delightful and Delicious Stopover!

The place is full of character as many have mentioned friendly hosts, lovely food.  Especially ideal for us as we much preferred to travel in a bubble so the accommodation was perfect for that.  We ate and drank well but the overall cost was very reasonable!

Perfect spot for our overnight en route to the Apls

Wonderful warm welcome from a charming couple who went out of their way to tell us about the history of the house and village. The rooms were beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of objects d’art.  Our room had seating and coffee table that we took advantage of with our friends to have a pre dinner glass of wine from the sensibly priced mini bar.  The bed was comfortable and added details such as chocolates beside the bed, robes in the bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities made it feel very luxurious.  
We had requested dinner and this was served in the magnificent dining room with a roaring log fire. The four course meal was delicious and the local wine very good. Breakfast too was excellent.  We will definitely be returning.

We stayed here enroute from England to Switzerland and what a find!!  Seriously if you're debating whether to stay here, don't delay,  just book it NOW!  After 10 hours of traveling this was the most beautiful soft place to land in France.  With a warm welcome from Arjan, we were shown around the house and taken to our room.  We had booked the family room as we had our 7 year old son with us and it was just perfect.  A huge room with an almost equally large bathroom.  There were two large double beds in the family room, a small seating area with a tv and a lovely view overlooking the other historic houses in the lane. After a quick freshen up, we took a short walk around the village to stretch our legs and took a two minute walk up the lane to the medieval church - the keys are kept in Le Bailli so it's very handy indeed!  The church was incredible, even our son's breath was taken away - so definitely worth a visit whilst your there if you can squeeze in the time.  

Dinner was served in the main dining room which is a beautiful 17th century oak panelled room.  Old clocks delicately chiming in the background along with some soft Mozart playing set the mood perfectly.  If you stay at the house you have the option to dine there which is a set four course menu made by Rene - we had the most delicious soup, Beef Bourguignon, a cheese platter and an incredible to die for raspberry posset!  Our son had the children's menu of spaghetti bolognese and ice cream which was perfect.  All accompanied with delicious local wine and coffee afterwards.  The following morning we listened to Max Bruch's violin concerto and had equally beautiful breakfast of croissants, freshly boiled local eggs, jams, cereals and limitless coffee to prepare for our onward journey.  Seriously how could we not want to come back!

After breakfast the owners Arjan and Rene had even kindly mapped out a scenic route through the National Park and Jura Mountains into Switzerland.  It was only an extra 30 minutes to our original journey and we were the only ones of the road so the extra time was barely noticeable.  And yes it was only 10-15 minutes off the motorway and back on again the following morning if you wanted to go the quick way.  In fact it was our most enjoyable stopover trip ever.  We'll definitely be back to stay again!

A beautiful hidden gem in an historic French village

Overnight stay en route to Lyon. Probably the best furnished and cared for place we have ever stayed. The bedroom is beautifully furnished and boasts a king size orthopaedic bed in addition to the immaculate furnishings. The bathroom / toilet is of equal quality. The dining room is fully panelled, beautifully restored and a pleasure to eat our delightful evening meal and breakfast there.

Mine hosts are absolutely charming - speak impeccable English and even personalised our evening meal to leave out the garlic we do not get on with.

Too short a stay but thoroughly recommended if you like quality. It's of such a standard I wouldn't let strangers in if it were mine!

Outstanding Chambre D'Hote

2nd stay - Le Bailli is a sympathetically restored 18th C town house in the medieval village of Montsaugeon, roughly mid way between Langres and Dijon.  As such, it is in a great location for an overnight stopover, either heading for the South of France or to the Alps.  However, the proximity to both Langres and Dijon may encourage a longer stay.

The family room is large, sleeping four in two double beds but also with space for a sofa and easy chairs and room to spare. The bathroom is well appointed.

Breakfast is fairly standard but good with bread, pastries, cold meats and cheeses and an evening meal is available at extra cost which is also good.

The village itself is worth a look, especially the church.  There are no bars or shops.

The joint hosts are charming and provide an excellent service.

Beautiful stopover

Absolutely loved staying here. 
Arrived late but we were still offered the most delicious onion soup and a cheese platter. 
The room has a well stocked mini bar with lovely cold drinks and snacks.
The decor throughout the house is in keeping with the history of the place and totally blew us all away,  it's smoky beautiful!
The dining room, with its fire and antique furniture is absolutely breathtaking. Even the teenage daughters feel in love with the place. 
The rooms are huge,  beautiful and very very relaxing. The bathrooms are elegant,  big and also beautiful. 
All in all,  we need to go back to enjoy again. We left after having enjoyed a delicious breakfast and taken a beautiful little walk up the hill to see the church. 

Amazing place

We stayed here on the way back from southern France and were a little concerned that it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere but the setting was fantastic - almost a model medieval village (it would be owned by the National Trust in the UK).
Le Bailli was fantastic, very welcoming, full of antiques that gave it great character, and a 4 course dinner that was much appreciated after a 400 mile drive. The Breakfast the next morning after a comfortable quiet night's sleep was excellent as well.
If you do plan to stay here please arrive early so you have time to explore the village (a map and history in English is provided ). 
A great and surprising overnight stop that has made us consider returning to the area to explore the region more - highly recommedned

Interesting overnight stop

Very welcoming. Stunning bedrooms.  The evening meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast - everything you could think of! The owners have taken great care to decorate the dinning room and bedrooms with beautiful antiques right from the toilet roll holders to the intricate egg cups at breakfast! A fabulous experience one we will not forget.
