Pontmartin is not easy to find, but once near, signposts guide you to the gate. This needs a code to open which brings to the gate Guy or his wife. This couple are what makes this place special. This is not a hotel but "Chambres d'hote", B&B, and Guy's mission is to make his guests as welcome as possible. Nothing is too much trouble and he has succeeded in creating a haven. Pontmartin is a stately home, the rooms are beautifully furnished, the bed was extremely comfortable, and there is a terrace where a buffet breakfast is available. There is a nice pool with comfortable loungers. One word of warning: Guy does not have a credit card charger so you will need to pay in cash, worth knowing in advance. But otherwise, it is a lovely base from which to explore Avignon and this part of Provence.

A Friendly Welcome

A charming place to stay with a very warm welcome from our hosts.  We loved every minute of our 4 night break.  It is a little tricky to find initially, so get directions beforehand. Handy for Avignon, Orange and many other tourist attractions.

Wonderful Maison

Unable to find a room in Avignon we stayed in this charming old Maison across the river south of Villenueve. It's not fancy but is fairly quiet and secluded even though near a highway. Ask for a room away from the road. If driving it's well situated for exploring the area without  the Avignon traffic. it is a short drive to the island dividing the Rhone where many visitors park for free and take shuttle buses into the city. Very convenient! We enjoyed our stay and will return. Note: before you arrive be sure you have accurate info on hotel location. It's very difficult to find initially .
