After reading previous reviews before we went , we were not expecting much But, we were pleasantly surprised , The Hotel is clean , comfy bed , fab hot shower ,quiet at night , all rooms have a fab view of slopes , excellent location ski in& out via boot room ! We had 1/2 board & it was great , plenty of choice at breakfast , hot drinks machine was a bit slow & they could prob do with getting another one but that’s my only criticism , Evening meal was great too ! We would deff come back again , cheap & cheerful good value for money which is all you need for a weeks skiing !

Great surprise

The location of the hotel is great for skiing. The room was basic as expected but clean. Unfortunately it was next to the boot room on the -4 floor. The balcony led onto the decking that everyone walked past so there was no privacy. It was loud at night as people returned through the door loudly at all times of the night. 

The croissants at breakfast were very good. They were the only warm option. There was often a long queue for the hot drinks machine. The evening food was basic and sometimes the hot food was served cold. 

The staff were friendly and the reception was helpful. The pool table upstairs was a nice touch.

Great location

I was really worried before we came because of the negative reviews, but I think some people have unrealistic expectations. 
First location, amazing totally ski to and from the door. On nice blue runs suitable for all levels of skiers. 
Accommodation - compact and yes it’s aged, but we came to ski not check out the room decor. We had 2 comfy single beds a small table & 2 wooden chairs.  Small bathroom with lovely bath. Plenty of hot hot water whatever time we came off the slopes. A separate loo, plenty of storage space. A balcony with 2 plastic chairs over looking the nursery slopes and over to the mountains. Every evening we enjoyed a drink sitting out there.  Lovely views watching the evening activities. No complaints as to the cleanliness and staff happy to bring me an extra pillow when asked. 
Meals breakfast plentiful pan au chocolat, croissants, bread baguettes and sliced for toast, selection of cold meats and basic cheeses, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes & cucumber. Refilled regularly throughout breakfast service. So many places we’ve been to it runs out of you are late not at Bel Horizon. Also cereal I think there were a couple of choices, yogurts, fruit.  Apple, orange Juice or water and a coffee / hot water for tea machine. Dairy & non dairy mil provided. 
Evening meal 3 courses, ok quite basic but we were happy with all. Things like pumpkins soup, cous cous salad, mozzarella & tomato salad starter. Mains 3 choices 1 of which always vegan, 1 quite often fish. Such as cod, on a tomato sauce with fried potatoes, quiche & salad, pasta bolognaise, Mac & cheese (although pasta not macaroni), beef ravioli. Deserts no choice like starter things like ice cream, chocolate brownie, lemon tart. All perfectly fine.  Ok not 5Star hotel but that’s not what we paid for. 
We would definitely come back an excellent holiday

Came January 2024 for a ski holiday.  The hotel is exceptionally located on the slopes but is in dire need of upgrade. The furniture and bathroom are at least 30 years old. The food is the worst I have ever experienced. We had half board and breakfast is very limited. No hot food and usually consists of bread and jam or yoghurt. If you are lucky there is a croissant. The evening meal is worse. Starter was coleslaw. Main course was a choice of 3 types of tartiflette. Normal, vegetarian or vegan. That came cold. The desert was tinned fruit.

Awful decor and terrible food

Great location but rooms haven't been upgraded for at least 20 years. Staff pleasant but difficult to pin down at almost any time . Rooms seriously basic with no tv, coffee making facilities fridge or microwave. I'd choose a better quality hotel for the money.

Poor, poor, poor. Needs investment.

Not the place for a family with children, however it’s a great location, in fact it doesn’t get any better for location as it’s right on the slope!! However that is it’s only plus point!! The location, everything else is not good at all….
The hotel is ran down and swamped with young groups of people who like to party 24/7….I would describe it more like an 18/30s hotel/hostel!!   So if you’re in a young group then this is probably the place for you. If you are a young family or an couple and want to sleep and relax then stay away.   Again there is no security and no reception for 90% of the time so guests are just allowed to run riot!   Breakfast was ok and did the job - no English tea though so if you want a cup of tea, take your own tea bags!!.
We would not return to this hotel. Needs some serious attention to bring it up to date…! 

Not for families or couples!!!

We visited the week before Christmas and had a fab holiday.  Perfect location Lovely view from room. Chairs provided on the balcony (not always the case in other hotels we have stayed in) Food was fine. The reception isnt manned all the time but you are not staying in a five star hotel. The bar manager is so welcoming and really makes an effort. He remembered us from visiting the bar at Easter which was amazing we weren’t staying in the hotel that time. We would definitely return

Ski holiday

I want this review to be fair so I will start by explaining that this was my first time skiing, I have never stayed anywhere else at a ski resort and I am used to much more comfortable holidays. I think reviews I have read are true in the fact this is a great "basic budget hotel" although we paid a lot so would not call it a budget at all, this is most likely due to us booking last minute and the poor snow across Europe making this more in demand. The main reason I have given 2 stars is not due to personal preferences not being met but something I feel is a genuine safety issue which is explained below.

The location is absolutely outstanding in terms of being ski in/ski out you are directly on the main slope, it does not get better! 

We paid for half board. Breakfast I personally felt was poor with limited choice compared to other continentals I've had before. Orange juice was always room temperature not cold and the coffee for me was undrinkable. The evening meals my husband and I did not enjoy, do not get me wrong, I think the chef was great just the actual food itself was not good, for example poor quality meat lacking in flavour and extremely chewy. The starter and dessert are one choice only so if it's something you don't like that is too bad. The mains there was 3 options with one vegetarian. The chilli was really good I managed to steal a bite from my husband but unfortunately I ordered the steak. Some of the soups were delicious. There was one night where we could not eat the main and had to go out for food after. I would like to emphasise this is not an issue with the chef. 

The beds were super uncomfortable and you only get one pillow each. The rooms are very basic which is fine we weren't there for the room, just the location. The walls are paper thin which was a huge issue as people were coming back to the rooms being noisy at all hours even between 2-530am making it impossible to sleep. The main issue we had with the room was the door to the balcony did not close properly, this was reported to reception on the first day and never dealt with. Temperatures were way below 0 and no one came to fix this, we managed by keeping the heating on full blast and created our own draft stop lodging it in the door. There was a big draft where you could see the curtains moving and feel the chill. There was hardly ever anyone on reception to discuss this and on the day we reported we had waited 15 minutes the first time and no one showed up despite reception supposedly opening at that time so we left and came back. This is the main reason I am giving the hotel 2 stars, not the other reasons which I appreciate would not apply to other people.

Would not return 

This was our second visit to this hotel, previously Covid was lurking and lots of travel arrangements were affected at the time.A small hotel with about 30 - 35 bedrooms, by coincidence we had the same room as last year.
 
Location is great right on the slopes and only 5 mins walk from the resort centre. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. All rooms appear to have a slope view and a balcony. The #ki locker room has direct access to the nursery slopes and you can almost ski through the door in your return.

We ate breakfast and dinner every day. Breakfast was a well stocked continental buffet affair. Dinner was 3 courses with a choice of three main courses each day. Generally the food was good, service was friendly and relaxed.

This hotel and the food package offer very good value for money - as a budget option it ticks all the boxes.

Returned & everthing was just a little better

Stay in 1/2 guest house, very good quality/price ratio. Very good meals, very complete breakfast. Large rooms, many storage rooms, no surprises compared to what we expected. Ideal location, ski departure and return on foot, beautiful terrace. Quick access to the shopping gallery, sports centre, parking lot.
