I stayed here with my Son for four nights on a ski trip. 
The room was clean, basic and functional but didn’t have tea or coffee facilities or a fridge, it was literally just somewhere to sleep and shower. 
The location was good, about a five minute walk to the Prarion lift.
The staff were friendly but spoke little English but in fairness I speak no French.
Not sure I would stay again if I’m honest, it was good value for money but I think I would pay a bit more for slightly better facilities.
Les Houches is also very quiet with no supermarket or shops other than ski shops.

Clean Room and Good Location

Welcome! 1960s bathroom! no air conditioning, and bed in 140... shame! couette and couette cover (not recycled) not refined but does not prevent sleeping! bulk cover in the closet... very filling lunch on the other hand with homemade yogurt, bread, Viennese, orange juice and hot drink.

Quiet but not worth the price

The hotel is without the country style, the place is restful and beautiful mountain view. And a nice balcony from the hut. The room was nice but rather small.

Good time.

Given how much the hotel was (I booked a single room), there is very little to complain about, and I was really impressed and satisfied by the experience. 

My room was a decent size, clean and I also found the bed comfortable. It may be a little dated, but the main thing is that everything was clean. Everything worked properly, although the shower does take a bit of finessing to get the right temperature. 

I opted for breakfast in the morning, and it was a perfectly decent continental breakfast. You could always walk down the road and get breakfast from the bakery at the bottom of the ski lift, but its a much of a muchness. 

The location is great - its a few minutes walk to the slopes so you don't have to take a bus. There is ski storage at the hotel, but I would suggest renting a locker where the gondolas are. 

It is a quiet area, so at night it is very peaceful, but the disadvantage is that you need to get a bus (or drive) into town for more restaurants. I expect if you get one of the apartments, you might cook at night.

The host (hotel manager) was friendly and understanding and made me feel very welcome.

I think my only (very) minor comments are that the room could have done with a bit more of a thorough vacuum.

Despite that it might be regarded as a bit basic, I would suggest checking this hotel out.

Cheap, clean, convenient and friendly

I stayed at the Hotel La Barme, Les Houches for a long weekend in February 2017. Given the low price quoted for the stay in the height of the ski season, my expectations were quite low. I was pleasantly surprised. It is situated on the outskirts of Les Houches but ideally situated for the Prarion gondola which is a short walk in ski boots. The Hotel doesn’t do an evening meal but does supply breakfast on request. The breakfast was a little limited, croissants, bread, cheese etc but I found it sufficient.  There are only about 4/5 rooms, a dining area, shared kitchen and a living area but it does have a rudimentary ski boot room and ski room. The Hotel is run by Francine who lives on the second floor and seems to do everything from serving breakfast to checking in guests. I had a double bedded room which had a small balcony, a private bathroom and shower. The room was quiet, warm, and had a tremendous view of the Mont Blanc range. The shower was a bit tricky to get ‘spot on’ but once you mastered the mixer tap, there was plenty of hot water. I found I could connect to the wifi without a problem but my room mate had patchy connection. There is a private car park for guests in front of the hotel. The Hotels facilities are basic but adequate. What it lacks in 5* service it makes up for in quirkiness and quaintness. I enjoyed my stay, found Francine helpful and amusing and the price was very reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. . One cautionary note. La Barme is at the very western edge of Les Houches. Although it was very convenient to get to the gondola, if you’re travelling without a car, it is a 20 minute walk, at least, to get to any restaurants / bars etc. That said Chamonix ski bus (Route 1) does run regularly from the Prarion through Les Houches and onto Chamonix until the evening.

Basic but comfortable and convenient.

We stayed two nights for business reasons with three people, I had booked two rooms, one individual and one for two beds, we had three rooms for the same price. Francine, the hostess is very nice, the meals are good and friendly. The hotel is simple, clean, the main one for us, no need for groom. If I return to the place it will be here. Thank you Francine for your hospitality and kindness.

Very good stay.

Owned by Madame Réche (so-called, but in fact very kind and welcoming), the hotel is 150 m from the hills of the Houses, the room we had had a beautiful view.

Familiar

We stayed here 4 nights whilst heading to watch the Tour de France! It is a very basic hotel with no extras. It's a great place if you are out all day and just needing a place to shower and sleep. Slightly run down but fairly clean. It was the view from our bedroom window I could not get over! That itself is worth staying! We did not include breakfast here and I am glad we didn't as there is so many options in the town square. The bakery I forget what it is called across from the main lift has the best coffee and amazing salad! I had it for breakfast 3 times and my husband happily enjoyed the croissants and quiche. Great price! 

View of Mont Blanc amazing! 

Good value and very clean. We had an apartment which had two bathrooms and two bedrooms, a kitchen and sitting room with wonderful views. Lots of parking. A car is necessary as you are some way from the centre of the village. You paid extra for breakfast if you wanted it. We were very pleased with our visit and the hostess was charming and helpful.

Very quiet location

This was the 2nd time I stayed and is fantastic for the location to the gondola. The rooms are very basic but the place is very clean and the beds are comfy.

Francine is great and she does her best to keep the place looking good.

Les Houches town is about 20 min walk but it's worth it and the Hotel Slalom is the place to go for drinks, awesome bar/hotel. 

I really like the La Barme and I have already booked again for this year.
