We were the only ones in this hotel - 3 of them in a row. This one has as yet not got a classification. And the restaurant closes
Wed and Thursday. Room would have been fine if the Wi-fi worked. Only a very small wardrobe with just one hanger and one trouser hanger. The shower door did not close and also there was no shelf to put soaps or shampoos. And no where to put anything in the bathroom either. So at 95€ for the room a pit pricey for less than the basics. However charming village and well worth a visit  

Lovely village

We have stayed here numerous times over the years, so took the opportunity to visit for lunch when passing through.
We were not disappointed, except we didn't have room for dessert.
When we have stayed in the past, the rooms are divinely decorated and very individual.
Delicious and comfortable. The venue is much improved and modernised.

Delicious Lunch at le Lions de Beauclerc

Shocked at how I was treated after booking this hotel for a wedding. I was told to use this hotel, and travelled more than 13 hours to attend the wedding. Naturally in such a remote place you have no idea where to stay and therefore book the recommended hotel. The hotel sent me a mail to tell me they had booked me out to which I refused. They then forced me to leave and said they had booked me in another hotel that I had not approved and told me that they had done their job. Err, no! Your Job was to accommodate me not throw me out into another hotel I had not booked against my desires and without my approval. I shall be pursuing this further legally.

The village of Lyons la Forêt is one of those postcard-perfect locations that sometimes one chances upon when touring Europe. In the heart of Normandy, this very cute village retains most of the original 17th century architecture, and it is a lovely place for a stroll. 
We had a very pleasant outdoor lunch in the internal courtyard of the “Les Lions de Beauclerc” restaurant, despite the kitchen and the dining areas being seemingly under-staffed. The food was decent - without being excellent, but particularly the ‘pate de la maison’ and the cider on offer made a very good impression. Overall it was a memorable experience.

A nice & quiet place for lunch.

This hotel is just off the main square of the very attractive and up market small town of Lyons La Foret. We booked on line. We arrived at the time we had specified, after dark in the pouring rain. We had great difficulty finding the hotel and eventually had to ask at a neighbouring hotel. They directed us to the entirely unlit and locked hotel. In the very meagre street lighting it was impossible to see what it was, there was no door we could open, no bell, no notice saying how to check in that we could see in the gloom.
We went back to the neighbouring hotel and the receptionist grumbled that there should be someone there and she was on her own. It turns out that the two hotels are owned by the same person. The receptionist took us down to the hotel, led us up a very slippery and slightly rickety external staircase (not suitable for those with any mobility issues) unlocked the door and showed us into our room. Once in, the room was fine, nicely decorated,  a good size with a smart recently refurbished  bathroom with the full range of facilities and the bed was comfortable. We discovered the shower was a bit feeble in operation. Despite being right on the main street it was very quiet.
We ate at the other hotel (L’Licorne see separate review by the same reviewer) as the restaurant in our hotel was closed that night (like everything else).
Overall apart from the very poor customer service at the outset it was a nice room and we spent  pleasant night.
The breakfast was OK, served in the adjacent hotel in a very attractive well presented and decorated dining room. The croissants not great but, unusually for France  quite nice scrambled egg and grilled bacon was on offer. I had to ask for hot milk for my coffee, clearly this was not considered normal, and the coffee itself wasn’t great or particularly hot. Overall, not bad but not really quite worth the money (€95 for the double room €13 person for breakfast
