In a beautiful and natural setting, we were greeted with kindness and attention. The rooms were perfect and the view was exceptional.

A sumptuous stay at the Cocagniere

After a long day of walking, we're all greeted like princes, swimming pool after the heat of the road, smiling, barbecue in the living room, chat, room 6 (crazy laugh).

A delightful stop

Warm home, tastefully decorated rooms, comfortable beds, impeccable cleanliness, breathtaking views, swimming pool and spa with water +31°. Delicious meals.

A Magnificent Weather

The tiny hamlet of Camp Sylvestre where this accommodation is located is about 5km from Puivert. There are perhaps 10-12 houses in the hamlet which is surrounded by farmland. The vistas are wide open and the views are superb. Puivert is an attractive larger village with a Cathar castle, a lake and an English microbrewery among other things.
Two of us were walking the Cathar Way. We got to Puivert and Pascal picked us up and took us back to La Cocagniere where we met his wife, Marie-Sophie. Pascal & Marie's house together with a separate wing of guest rooms were renovated about three years ago. Everything is to the highest standard and the guest rooms are wonderful. The house and guest rooms face on to a garden with a swimming pool.
We had a delicious supper in the house with Pascal, Marie and one of their friends who was staying in a guest room. We all got by happily in a mixture of English and French. We also had breakfast in the house the next morning. Marie-Sophie made us a picnic for our walk and gave us a lift back to the Cathar Way.
This is a lovely place and well worth a major diversion to enjoy the accommodation, hospitality and home-cooked food.

A beautiful guesthouse. Make a detour.

We were two adult men walking the Sentier Cathare (Cathar Way) long distance walk. We stayed in two rooms overnight at this lovely homestay where we were given a warm welcome. We were picked up from nearby Puivet Castle, and able to use the pool, very welcome on such a hot day. There is also a jacuzzi available to guests, and Marie-Sophie cooked us a lovely 4 course dinner. We'd loved to have been able to stay longer!

Luxury rooms, tastefully decorated, and delicious home cooking

Nice stay for this room with a splendid view of the Audoise countryside. The rooms are very tastefully renovated with quality materials. Petit dej sympa, two wineries per person, bread, jams and honey, orange juice. The hosts are very friendly and have booked us a warm welcome.

It's a beautiful setting.

Despite our last-minute scheduled arrival, our guests were very receptive. The room was very lovely with a green view. The breakfast was particularly delicious with lots of choices (milk, vegetable milk, cereals, wine, craftsmanship jams...).

Absolutely charming.

We were seven Belgian hikers in April and we occupied the four bedrooms for four days: the reception was great, the breakfasts and meals delicious, the atmosphere really nice. The rooms are very comfortable and very nicely decorated. A discovery, to advise without hesitation!

That's a great address.

Location
The B&B is located in Campsylvestre, a hamlet with maybe 20 houses some kilometres from Puivert. It is a very quiet neighbourhood with a nice view to the mountains. Of course, there are no shops. The next supermarket is in Quillan (20 min drive) or Bélesta.

The hosts
Marie-Sophie and Pascal (who run the place since 2015 if I remember correctly) showed great hospitality. They like to share a drink with their guests and chat. Pascal speaks English fluently; Marie-Sophie understands some English but doesn't speak it at all (and doesn't seem to be inclined to change that). So when Pascal is not at home, the guests should speak some French; otherwise communication is only pantomimic.
They have a little dog who is not always fond of guests and 2 own and 2 adopted cats (which don't mind the guests as long as they don't DARE to sit on their favourite chair).

Service
After Pascal had fixed the Wifi, it worked exceptionally well.
There was a fridge for the use of the guests which was appreciated.

Room
The 4 guest rooms are located in a separate building. We stayed 5 nights in Room Veronique. It had 2 windows with a nice view on the surrounding landscape and the garden. The room featured a cupboard, hooks for the coats, a sofa, a table with a chair which was convenient for writing/ typing, and 2 bedside tables with lamps. Tea and coffee making facilities were available.
The only thing we didn't like was the bed. It was too soft for our taste and unfortunately it was not one of the queen beds common in France but two separate beds put together with a huge gap in between the mattresses.
The bathroom was spacious and clean. There were several very soft towels. Good hair dryer.

Breakfast 
Breakfast was excellent. There were croissants and pain au chocolat every day, several kinds of bread (some of which were homemade by a neighbour), too many spreads to count (including several homemade jams), butter, even cheese, fresh orange juice, homemade yoghurt, fruits...

Dinner
On 3 evenings of the week you can share the host's dinner. The food is nothing fancy, but good and solid home-made food. Leave some space in your belly for the most excellent cheese course. And don't miss Marie-Sophie's homemade lemonades.
To enjoy the dinner properly, it is really helpful if you speak fluent French. On one evening, we were the only non-native speakers together with the hosts and 6 French/ Belgians. You should never expect the French to include you in their conversation although everybody knew how to speak English. Pascal translated a little bit but on the whole we were sitting there for nearly 3 hours without understanding anything which was extremely uncomfortable.
