If you ever have the chance to visit this hidden little corner of France, 1 hour outside of Lyon, I recommend it.  Gorgeous fortresses, castles and pieces of history abound.  

Michael is a wonderful host and knows about the region being a local.  The rooms and guest areas are decorated with taste.  The bed, pillows and sheets are VERY comfortable (such a wonderful surprise).  Michael pays attention to detail, having a hair dryer available in the room (merci!) and a handcrafted soap to take home.

The breakfast is first rate with homemade jam and cake.  Great coffee too.

What a lovely hidden treasure

Gaultier is the owner of this amazing place. the hotel used to be a house of rich family in the past that had winery in the area of the house. Gaultier took the place and renovated it completely and by that created a great place to stay in the country side. The breakfast is amazing and the view is breathtaking. A great bonus to all that is the fact that Gaultier is producing the soap by himself with ingredients from dead-sea, which are making it a very high quality soap - you can also buy it from him for very reasonable price. Thank you Gaultier, for everything.

Amazing stay in the countryside

This was a wonderful bed and breakfast to stay at the half way mark when driving north from Nice to the Loire Valley.
This old residence is beautifully renovated. Our room was huge, with modern shower/very comfy bed/duvet.
The breakfast was delicious and if you email ahead of time, the owner will also serve you dinner, accomodating any dietary needs. I suggest you do ths as there is nothing much in the area, and once you stop driving, you will not want to get back and look for somewhere to eat.
The dinner was delicious.
I would definitely return here if I had the chance.


Great stopover

It was a bit difficult to find because the sign on the main street was covered by greenery, but it is worth all the effort to get there. The staff took our baggage all the way up to the second floor (no lift) and we were surprised by the enormous size of the rooms. Actually it is an old farmhouse, completely renovated about five years ago with very much taste. Bed very comfortable, a lot of artwork everywhere, very quiet surroundings and the breakfast was really fantastic, served in the downstairs dining room. The whole has actually the atmosphere of a museum. Now the problem I face is to find an excuse to come back for a bit longer stay.

We've stayed in many B&B's across France over the years but nothing nicer than this.  A genuine grand old country house which has been beautifully restored and once again feels like a private residence.  The guest rooms are traditional and furnished with lovely antiques (plus Englush wallpaper) while the bathrooms are right up to date.  The young owner is rightly proud of what he has achieved and goes out of his way to make guests feel welcome.  Breakfast is served in a traditional dining room and is nicely prepared and presented.
