We have visited the Diamant on many occasions for their wonderful breakfast and also the fish and chip nights.  Last week there was a Burns Supper.  Splendid night.  Great food.  Haggis and neeps followed by beef in Guinness followed by cranachan.  Along with cheese, coffee and a "wee dram".  The haggis was well and truly "addressed"..... by an Englishman it's true but he made a very good job of it.

We stayed here whilst on a cycle ride through the area. A little by accident as it was slightly off our route. What a great find! Perfect for our purposes. James and Nicky were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Our bikes were stored in the garage and they even sorted me out with needle and thread to repair my shorts. Our onward journey being on a Sunday,with the vagaries of French opening times that brings, James immediately offered to make sandwiches for us in case we could not find anywhere for lunch.
Our room (for 3 of us) was ideal, very comfortable and spacious with an excellent hot shower. Just what was needed at the end of a day in the saddle. Shutters and double glazing were very effective in keeping out any road noise and, after a very good evening meal prepared by James, we slept like logs until 8 in the morning.
We were treated to a particularly fine Full English Breakfast, again prepared by the kitchen wizard James.
The bar seems to be quite the hub of the village and it was fun to watch life come and go. To be honest, I didn't really want to leave.
The large Full English actually fuelled us all day long. We found a bar open at lunchtime but didn't need more than a coffee!
Highly recommend the Diamant, especially for passing cyclists!

A gem.

Fantastic place, welcoming and very friendly couple (they are English too so it helps). Was always busy when I came to have a drink, food or use the internet. The locals seemed to love it too which is always a show that its a good place. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing and need a drink or some grub, or, if local and don't want to stay in the house or cook in all the time. Thanks guys we will be back next year! Will.

Friendly couple whom are very welcoming

This is a traditional old French style hotel in a quiet location, run by a friendly and helpful English couple. The bar is great, the food is great, and there is a very pleasant friendly atmosphere.  

There is a terrace outside in the village square, or a restaurant inside, where you can have dinner and breakfast.

I had a spot of car trouble, and with one quick phone call they had one of their friends come out at 8 in the evening to help get it fixed.

If I'm in the area again, I will be back

James and Nicky (the owners) welcomed us and upgraded our room from a twin (identified as the last available room on Booking.com) to a double, with ensuite bathroom, as we were the only guests in the hotel. The ensuite was adequate with a shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin however the floor moved when walked on and definitely sloped to one corner, obviously one of the perks of an old property. James and Nicky were a friendly enough couple who chatted and showed interest in our property search. They also introduced us to their other clientele, who were mainly British. James even opened up a website to show us properties available around the area. The English Breakfast was good with real English produce, i.e. Bacon, Sausage, Beans etc, however the continental was just yogurt, croissants and bread and did not have any cold meats, eggs or cheese etc, as experienced in other hotels. The menu for the evening meals looked reasonable however we only managed to get one evening meal, during our stay, and that was on the very first night, due to issues explained below. The other British clientele used the pub as a coffee shop, meeting place and for an evening quiz once per week. They were also very friendly and accommodating, as we were welcomed on the last evening to join the quiz and accepted an offer to join in with one of the teams. They were also very keen to speak to us once they were aware that we were property hunting and several offers were made to view locally owned properties, some of which were up for sale. We were also advised of the best websites to search rather than just the mainstream sites 
Day one (Tuesday PM) We accessed the room and although very clean it was also vey very basic. The flooring through all of the hotel accommodation area was blue industrial vinyl. Obviously very easy to keep clean but not very aesthetic or what we were expecting as guests in a French hotel. Apart from a double bed, small bedside tables and two wooden chairs and a small fixed work surface there was nothing else to sit on and therefore you were forced to use the bed whilst in the room between our outings etc. There was an electrical kettle, tall standing fan and an oil filled electric radiator available in the room BUT no TV or radio. However, in reflection, we probably wouldn't have heard much as the hotel room was on the first floor right next to the main road through the village which was used by some seriously large and heavy goods lorries and vehicle transporters. Unfortunately as we found out the following morning, the transport movement started its early morning chorus from around 4:00AM and went on until mid evening which didn't bode well for a good nights sleep. Day two (Wednesday) Woken by the transport dawn chorus, we descended to the bar for breakfast. After breakfast we were advised that we would need to get an evening meal at an alternative venue as the Hotel Diamant would be closed. No big problem however we really had to search around for somewhere to eat that evening and not knowing the area at all didn't help. Thank god for the last estate agent offering to show us one of their favourite bistros. Day three (Thursday), No breakfast as we needed to get out and about for our first house viewing at 09:00 and didn't get to see Nicky or James the night before to organise something before we left. On our return Nicky was busy and James was in the kitchen preparing food for the quiz that night.

Passing for a night at the private hotel hosting a double room with shower and toilet integrated and good breakfast I recommend it. hotel made restaurant mine we ate outside. small town of 650 inhabitants church not far not far from the monkey valley.

For one night

When we first discovered our room, we found that the toilets were dirty and the floors were stained and washed away shortly to change! We had the misfortune of falling into a stormy and hot evening with, in addition, the Roman nights (a local party that attracts 3,000 people with so many cars passing and going by our windows making a worthwhile drainage plate at each passage). We were so afraid of the chalet, we left our windows open and were not surprised that the boss knocked on our door at 11:30 (we were going back to sleeping nights) when we closed our doors because she didn't want to be in the window, and we didn't even remember the number of French guests who were in the hotel room and we had to talk about the number of them. We had to be very careful to know that there was a very good room and we could not even talk about the number of them!
