We had a very bad experience. We arrived at night after driving 4- 5 hours with my extended family - kids grandparents and dogs looking forward to peace and bliss.There was an issue with our booking which was no fault of ours. The moment we arrived, the owner shouted at my wife and sister in law, causing my wife to cry. We were literally chased out. 
As seasoned travellers we have NEVER experienced such poor treatment. My whole family was in shock. 
Whilst idyllic, please be wary there is a spiteful person who runs this establishment and I don’t wish this sort of experience to
happen to anyone else.

Awful

We booked for the weekend of July 14th. Confirmed payment and confirmed booking. The day before we left we received a cancellation email. We contacted the domain that told us that it was not his problem and saw this with Booking. Now in the email we received we have a copy of the domain request to Booking asking to cancel our booking because he has other customers who rent longer on his side. He was hateful on the phone with my wife. Minable and very unpleasant.... Be careful if you only rent one night expect your booking to be cancelled if he finds other customers who take 2 nights.

Reservation canceled the day before departure.

I was booked by booking a five-night stay, and they sent me a message saying that they were not available on that date, but they were available for the rest of the month, so I modified the booking, and then I received another message saying that they were full for the whole month.

Poor education in the telephone service.

This was the highlight of our 2 week trip in France.  Alain was nothing short of extraordinary. Our days started off with incredible breakfasts with every delicacy imaginable. Alain planned our days perfectly and sent us out to places that were largely devoid of crowds.  He also made marvelous restaurant reservations for us.  My daughter and I were so sad to leave, and I hope very much to return. I felt I had a temporary home in the Dordogne.

Extraordinary in every possible way

Welcome and very nice advice. The place (in the middle of the forest) is perfect for the farmer and not far from many places to visit (castles, restaurants, etc.). The room (yellow) was ultra spacious and comfortable. Good breakfast although a little repetitive in its content...but it is to say something. In short, we recommend warmly. Perfect for our dog too. Thanks to Alain and Byrne.

Quiet in a very beautiful place

Great corner, a great resting place if you're looking to get green in an idyllic setting go there we really liked it, small villages around (compulsory car) or we can find nice small restaurants the room is size XXXL with its private terrace small dej correct me who am more salty i was a little disappointed

Gay guest house

Small 5-star cottage, everything is perfect, the big ultra clean room, the huge and comfortable bed (I want the same mattress) the bottle of fresh water has arrived, wine to taste, the pool very clean, the hosts very friendly.

Magnificent accommodation with small private houses for guests. Very nice garden. Very nice swimming pool. Very quiet and relaxing. Very neat decoration of the rooms. Beautiful and large bathroom with Italian shower. Cozy lunch. impeccable cleanliness. Excellent advice (restaurants, visit...). Ideally located to wander in the black Périgord. Unbeatable value for money.

This is an extraordinary stay.

The guesthouse quite a distance away from any town activities, restaurants any places of interest. I had wanted a break from all the hustle of daily life, so remoteness suited me well. The guesthouse had relatively good reviews on gay travel sites and these also were confirmed during my first 2 days there. Alain has a passion for the way he treats his guests, made excellent suggestions for activities and dinner and served a delicious breakfast every morning. The room was very spacious, the bathroom well-equipped. The only downside was the lack of a fridge - being that far away from the next town, it would have been nice to store cold drinks for use at the pool during the day.
I unfortunately had to cut my initial stay (9 days) short, because of some very personal and not-so-gay-friendly comments and actions of other guests (mixed-gender couple). Explaining that to the owners did cause a bit of unease, as it was seen as an “overreaction”/over-sensitive response.
Very unfortunate.

Remote, peaceful, but not too gay-friendly guests

Had an amazing experience, which was so much more than just Bed and Breakfast. During our stay we enjoyed the the massive room (pretty much the size of many inner London flats!) with a large private terrace, plentiful breakfasts and the proximity to so many of the sites that the Perigord Noir has to offer. 

This was all crowned by the incredible hosts, that helped us plan and navigate our itineraries amongst and endless supply of beautiful and authentic French villages and the 1001 chateux that the region is so well known for. 

This really is a Bed and Breakfast with the personal touch of a 5 star hotel.
