We have been here 26 years ago, before our marriage.
At that time, it was a small restaurant and the painting of frogs were impressive.
To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we came here again and we are happy to find that it become such a excellent auberge.

Anniversary

We stayed at La Grenouillere to celebrate a birthday, and had an amazing experience from the apple infusion in the salon at the start all the way to buying honey from the shop 24h later. The huts are beautiful and truly special, and the restaurant offers a great gastronomic experience. Nothing to change.

Fabulous stay, meal and experience - thoroughly recommended

My fourth visit to La Grenouillère and everything was still... amazing.
The rooms were redecorated (my last visit was in June 2020) with taste. The staff is still outstanding. The dinner was out of this world. I enjoyed each and every minute of my stay in this magical place.

we were treated with two of the great "huttes" that we already loved on our first visit. the kids were amazed, too. breakfast is very nice and the lady who served us is very charming. truly a beautiful place to stay and relax.

Wonderful stay our room was great.
The food at dinner and breakfast is something that will stay with us for a very long time. 

Each morsel had been carefully considered by the Chef. Each course building on the last. We loved it so much.

We would highly recommend.

We stayed in one of the glamourous huts and treated ourselves to the tasting menu for an evening meal to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It didn't disappoint. Fun amuse bouche with our aperitifs and impeccable meal beautifully presented and tasting fabulous. Our waitress Clara was an absolute delight - very knowledgeable about each course and explained the accompanying wines (we elected to have the 8 course tasting menu with matching wines) with authority and enthusiasm considering her young age. Each course was a delight but I found the most innovative one was the 'Cuir de courgette Jaune' - amazing how our 2* chef transported the humble yellow courgette into something remarkable. A chicken breast melted in the mouth and the accompanying salted brioche was delicious.  Alexandre Gauthier is a master craftsman taking his love of herbs and nature to another level with his wonderful food. The breakfast was a delight too with amazing smoked ham and cheeses, delicious home made rice pudding  assorted berries and juices. Can't wait to go back but will have to save up as it wasn't cheap!

An amazing experience

My good friend has been going to La Grenouillere for 25 years and he loves it. Tucked away and hard to find is this quirky hotel restaurant. 

I was amused by the amuse bouche while we had a drink before dinner. The service was impeccable and the table beautifully spaced out giving a sense of privacy.

I knew it would be expensive, ad it was, I think we were lucky to escape with a bill for 2 less than 300 euros, probably because I had about the cheapest wine amongst the most most amazing and extensive wine collection in any restaurant I have veer eaten at.

Sadly I realised while eating away that I really do not like nouvelle cuisine! Perhaps an expensive way to find out. My partner chose frogs legs, they were too salty but otherwise delicious (cooked in garlic and parsley). But she had to wash then saltiness off. We were assured the salty flavour was not salt but some other thing.

If money is not an object, and you like nouvelle cuisine I am sure you would enjoy it. The fact I didn't really says more about my taste than the high quality of the restaurant.

If you like Nouvelle Cuisine you will love it.

Well known restaurant from northern France. Jst gor 2 stars Michelin Guide when we got there. We took the 11 courses dinner. A Noma or Mugaritz-like experience. Meaning taking simple local ingredients, cooking them in unexpected ways and presenting them so you don't knox what you are going to experience.
Two ans a half hours with 5 glasses of wine in a marevellous dining room with an international and professional service squad.
The hotel room does not reach the level of the restaurant. It clearly doesn't reach the Relais & Chateaux standards.
But nervermind, if you go there, go there for the food !

Fantastic dinner

What a fantastic experience ! This is true modern cuisine: daring, yet harmonious, light yet with substance, focused on the (excellence of the) products, amazing combinations.  A very stubborn chef, whose cooking you adore or hate.  Great service, nice (affordable) wine list.  We were delighted to hear that the restaurant obtained its second * 3 days after we passed.

Waw - what an experience !

the accommodation certainly does not live up to the restaurant. Our room smelt of drains which was really off putting - it could have been something to with the fact that the place had just re-opened post Xmas. The furnishings you could either describe as minimalist, or just a bit cheap and nasty - lots of chipboard painted black and plain white walls - carpet was also a bit like lino and sticky to walk on. Wet room had a nice shower but was also black and gloomy with a couple of lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling. 180 euro for this with no food included was a complete rip off. If you happen to eat in the absolutely fabulous restaurant, take a taxi back to Montreuil and stay in one of the many nice hotels there - it is a much better option
