We paid the extra 10 euros for a room with a mountain view and it was well worth it.
When booking half board via booking.com we mentioned that my wife is vegetarian and that we would like to arrive about midday if possible (usual check in time is 5pm to 8pm. I received two prompt emails saying that these requests were not a problem.
Usually these sort of requests on online bookings go un-noticed.
There is a large enough free public car park just across from the hotel which felt perfectly safe for leaving a vehicle.
The owners spoke a little English and were delighted to converse slowly and patiently in French so that we could practice our rudimentary knowledge of the language.
Breakfasts were plentiful with bread, croissant, pains au chocolate,yoghurt, fruit and facilities for boiling eggs and making toast.
Evening meals were excellent and varied for both the vegetarian and the omnivore.
The bar had Leffe beer on tap.
On our last night we were treated to a fondu followed by ice creams and complimentary genepi.
The ensuite room was comfortable and easily of the standard one would expect in an isolated mountain village, characterful rather than modern but nothing missing.
We walked and snowshoed from the hotel and from a small car park another couple of miles away.From the latter we also put skins on our skis and ascended gentle slopes to the edge of the Longchamp ski lift area 800 metres above before skiing back down to the car.

Excellent friendly hotel in a beautiful isolated setting.

Situated half way up (almost) Le col de la Madeleine and on the way up or down Col du Chaussy this is a perfect place for a refuel on a cycling day out.
Tables outside in the shade of the trees but overlooking the valley.
Also tables inside for winter visitors.
And it looks like a small hotel too.
Car park opposite too with a fair few spaces if you are in the car touring around.
Run by an old couple who seemed friendly enough...no English spoken which is always a good sign that you are a bit off the beaten tourist track! Not such a bad thing😉
We all opted for menu du jour with two courses or three and a couple of drinks (Leffe was nice!!) and it was less than €20 each.
Steak was cooked perfectly ‘a point’ and the chips and salad topped it off nicely.
The reblochon looked good too.
Some friendly locals too for a bit of banter about how long it would take us to get up the Madeleine climb😂

Awesome cycling stop!

We stayed with 9 friends for one night, whilst cycling in the area. The location is great, with amazing views of the surrounding landscape. The rooms are simple, with nothing fancy. Walls are paper thin and you can hear what happens next door and floor squeak when you walk on as this is an old building.

We had dinner there, as we came in late and there is nothing else nearby to eat. Food does not come cheap but was tasty. 

We somehow did not read the fine print when booking that check in is between 5-8pm-somewhat of a small window to be there and check in. I understand that after 8pm the staff leaves the property and you cannot check in. 

My biggest disappointment was the rude staff. Since the property is small, they wanted us to go to bed after dinner, at 10:30. We were sitting outside and all the bedrooms facing that patio were ours. They made a huge fass about this and were blantly rude telling us that we are not alone in the hotel and that we need to go to bed! We eventually did as they were shouting at us. We stayed in our blacony instead. Also the next morning we had our bikes resting on chairs and tables, waiting to set off, and staff were moving our bikes rudely as they were replacing the chairs with new one. We really felt not wanted there at all. 

Breakfast was charges at €10 which was also a dissappointment. We had coffee, juice, bread, jam and ham and cheese. The buffet had two boiled eggs for the whole time and I took one. 

Overall I would try and avoid this hotel and try and stay somewhere else, but if this is your only option, be prepared to be treated rudely, pay high price for food and stay in a simple (shabby) room.

Great location, rude staff!

After a fantastic days ride we arrived at the Hotel just off Col de La Madelaine to find there was a 90 th birthday party going on, at which point every one welcomed us and moved of the patio to allow us to put all 7 bikes in the huge spotless  garage !
We then joined in the party before going to our rooms with great views down the valley.
Dinner and breakfast were the best we had had over our 10 day trip.

Fantastic Biking Hotel

My partner loves mountain passes, so we had to do just one more for the day. 
Decided to take a little detour in the hopes of finding something to eat. Found this little gem instead. 
The rooms are simple and clean. No frills. 
The food however is a completely different story.
I do not care about the relatively small selection on the menu, we are in the middle of nowhere! There is enough goodness to eat. 
My magret de canard was sensational. Tender, juicy, just pink not bloody, crisp on the outside. Delicious! The potatoes were heavenly.
My partner had the veal made in the traditional style with lentils and vegetables. It didn't look as amazing as my dinner, but tasted great. 
Taste the local wine and enjoy a genepi!


Little gem

Arrived quite late after a long day cycling, but they'd kept the kitchen open, and were generally lovely people in a great, characterful hotel. Fantastic view as well over the Alps too - worth the upgraded room!
