We have dined here several times and never been disappointed.This is a family run restaurant excellent service and great value for your money.The kitchen is on full view to the clientele always a plus sign for me.l would recommend this restaurant for couples or families as there always seems to be a mixture of both.

Nice French Restaurant

The sun was shinning, there was a gentle cooling breeze, the swallows were diving in and out of the narrow lane, what better setting could one have for a relaxed lunch served outside and created with such panache - but there was more to come !!! the desert created by le propriétaire de dame was a masterpiece of design, presentation and best of all taste.

I found this small restaurant whilst riding through the delightful little village of Montolieu, which has many book shops and a Museum of Calligraphy/Printing.

Spend a pleasant morning browsing the book shops and finish off with lunch at Les Anges au Plafond and your day will be a day to remember.

The restarant also has Bed & Breakfast accommodation - that's for next time.

Great food in a relaxed setting

After passing Les Anges au Plafond during a visit to the village of Montolieu a couple of days before we decided to give it a go. 
+ points - the restaurant is lovely inside. It has a real homely feel to it with mismatched chairs and tables, along with gold painted angel heads around the ceiling roses. The English lady who served us kindly helped with the translation of a couple of dishes on the menu and explained the rare/medium/well done differences between the Uk and France to make sure the meat was cooked to our taste. Children were playing outside and popped in now again (they were very well behaved) and this added to the friendly family atmosphere you often see late in the evenings on the continent.
- points - when we initially arrived the other lady that greeted us didn't seem to know anything about our booking (we emailed through a couple of days before and received a confirmation back.) After showing her the email we were asked which table we wanted to sit at. It wasn't very busy so it felt an unnecessary awkward couple of minutes. A quick apology and smile would also have made us feel more at ease. The other point worth noting is although it was a Saturday evening the restaurant seemed to lack ambience. This may just be our personal preference but the lighting was quite bright and there was no music playing. This works in the day I'm sure but I'd certainly recommend softer lighting, maybe candles and some background music for evenings. There were a few mumbled conversations going on around us as it was so easy to hear everyone's conversations!
Overall I'd certainly recommend a visit to Les Anges du Plafond. The food was really lovely and good value for money.  It also opens in the day and has 3 B&B bedrooms. Montolieu itself is a quaint little village, known for it's second hand bookshops and arts so well worth a couple of hours visit.

We'd booked a holiday rental in the Minervois for a week but decided to extend our stay at each end at this B&B in Montolieu. Four years ago we walked past it and thought looked like a nice place to stay. We weren't disappointed.
Les Anges is a great place, the rooms are spotless and the decoration is charming. But the real secret to it's warmth is the service - Terri, Bernard and Isabelle are brilliant hosts who have a knack of making people feel at home. The food is terrific as well.
We loved our trip and will definitely be back soon!
