La Cabanne

We decided to leave Paris a week before the Easter Weekend to visit Le Mont-Dore a large mountain village in Auvergne with a warm and lively atmosphere that's dear to my husband who spent many vacations there as a child. All hotels were booked or closed I fell upon this charming hotel (only 5 mns from Le Mont-Dore) and fell in love with the reviews. I called and booked and Françoise the owner was very courteous and hospitable. We arrived and walked around in bedroom shoes. We also enjoyed the lovely views of the Sancy mountain range in Auvergne. Our room had a view overlooking the mountains. The other guests were very discreet. Everything was clean and tidy. Very secure, you need a code to enter the hotel late at night. The breakfast was a hearty French one which included scrumptious freshly baked baguette bread, jams, delicious brewed coffee, milk and croissants as well as pains-aux-chocolats. Joël, the Chef and Françoise's husband popped in for a quick chat during breakfast to make sure we had a nice time. Even the Easter bunny had visited - my son was delighted with the Easter eggs during breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and woke up to a snow covered village was quaint and picturesque just like in the movies. All guests kept to themselves leaving hence very private given the close proximity of the rooms. Even children were quiet. They have free parking, free wifi and a games room. We didn't get to try the restaurant which was a shame as my son's a fussy eater but homemade products were indeed advertised for sale in the restaurant. My only regret was that I forgot to buy some of the homemade products but as we are sure to return I will do so next time! Thanks!
