We had a reservation for 1 night (12th September) When we arrived the car park was empty and one ground floor window boarded up. We then noticed that all of the bedroom windows had their shutters down. Followed the "fallen over" sign to the entrance and to our horror that was totally boarded up. No notices, no e mail to tell us that the hotel was closed. I found the hotel telephone number and was told to go over to the Campanile. They had a reservation for us and even though their room rate was 69 euros, we were given the rate quoted by Kyriad. Surely it is better customer relations to warn us in advance that the hotel is closed and that a room had been reserved for us at the Campanile rather than leave it to us to find out I certainly wouldn't trust or use a Kyriad again.

Despicable

We have rated nearly all the criteria as "very good". In absolute terms, some would probably say that the hotel is a little past its sell by date (carpets in the hallways could do with being changed, room and other deco a little drab, etc.) but it is clean and quite well equipped and perfectly met our needs for this stay, at a highly acceptable price, almost the same as the much more spartan Première Classe nearby. We'll gladly go back next time we're taking the ferry from or to Dunkerque/Dunkirk. The staff are very friendly and helpful - e.g. there is normally a kettle + tea/coffee service in the room, but because of theft (even though the kettle provided can only work on the wall-mounted fixture!) the kettle is not permanently in the room. All we had to do was ask at reception and we were given a kettle immediately.
It is very conveniently located near the ferry terminal and the Poivre Rouge restaurant right next door is well worth a visit for the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff.

A good place to stay near the Dunkerque/Dunkirk ferry terminal

Beware- rooms do not look like the advertised pictures. 
No customer service skills, no empathy or support.
Bathroom covered in mold top to bottom.
Unsafe light fittings.
Hotel chain have refused to refund, blaming booking.com for the wrong photos, yet taking no responsibility for the state of the room, lack of customer service and dangerous electrical fittings

Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in

Quick overnight stay booked online as had stayed here before and was told it was being renovated. That was almost a year ago and still not finished ! Room was spacious and clean but bathroom ceiling showed patches of white between the mould and same for bath tile grouting. 
Friendly staff but TV remote missing in room, reception said it was in a certain place, returned to room but not there. By time got back, reception closed so gave up on it.

Still needing renovation

Rebooked at Kyriad Loon Plage mainly because of the superb breakfasts! Great choice in an airy breakfast room. We were booked into the same small bed-room though, - still no shower-head holder, wall under window still coming apart, sink still slow-to-drain because partially blocked. You can't have it all, can you! 

Return Visit, - Same Room!

From time to time we have stayed at all of the hotels in the cluster around Loon Plage, right next door to the Dunkirk Ferry Terminal. The Kyriad comes out top when rated jointly on price, comfort and quality of breakfast. All are convenient, all offer decent parking and all are within easy reach of a decent restaurant. Go for the Kyriad. 

Clean, Friendly Convenient

Very good accessible hotel with very good staff however the establishment itself is in dire need of some paint, new tiling in the bathroom and new carpets, seats in the recreation room are worn down to the wire.


Hotel needs a makeover

Spent two nights in the Kyriad at Loon Plage. We have stayed at this hotel/motel twice before and have found it to be excellent value with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are clean and quite suitable for a short stay. The breakfast room is spacious and the fare fairly varied and plentiful. Love the frozen yoghurt machine. The bar and lounge area is a little bit tired but again perfectly ok.

Two nights at Kyriad Loon Plage

The staff were lovely but the hotel and rooms are incredibly run down. The sheets and towels were clean but the beds, furniture and lobby areas were awful. Investment is needed here. Not Kyriad's usual standard even at its most basic level.

The staff and location were the only posititive parts.

The room was extremely small, with very little room to move around the beds.
Paintwork, carpets very poor condition.
Bathroom smelly and toilet stained,
Air conditioner ineffective.
Bedding and towels clean and beds comfortable.
Whole place needs redecorating and refurbishing.
Did not eat breakfast, so cannot comment, however went to a very good inexpensive restaurant next door, that I would recommend.
We had stayed before, so knew what to expect and only stayed because of distance to DFDS ferry port.
On reflection it’s a bit expensive for standard of accommodation.
