"La Maison de Maidara"

This is one of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in. Our room was pleasantly furnished, very comfortable, of generous size and with a modern bathroom. There is a nice guest lounge on the 1st floor with lots of information available on the area as well as good WiFi reception. Breakfasts were lovely with lots of variety and different things to try (e.g. several delicious homemade jams, cheeses, homemade yoghurts, etc). Mai was a wonderful host, giving us lots of advice on the area and helping to make the most of our stay. She is also a wonderful cook and the evening meals she prepared for us were superb. Olby is a pleasant village and easy to get to from Clermont Ferrand with its rail and air links. It has a boulangerie and a well-stocked grocery. Olby is well-located for a walking holiday - Puy de Dome is very nearby and there are many other walking possibilities in the area. It is also convenient for accessing Le Mont Dore - Puy de Sancy is a magnificent walk and the many volcanic lakes in the area are very beautiful. We had never been to the Auvergne before but now can’t wait to make another visit to explore further this beautiful area.
