Absolutely lovely stay! Commom areas decorated with charm and character. Our room (Havana) was so spotlessly clean with great attention put to every little detail (decoration, welcoming little message, towels, toiletries, etc) We loved the hospitality of the landladies, the amazing breakfast with local organic products in the beautiful big table of the kitchen and all this in a very decent price compared to what we paid for our other accommodation in the Loire area that were not necessarily of higher quality. On the recommendation of the our hosts we also had dinner at an amazing restaurant close by. We recommend this auberge warmly! 🤗

We visited for the third time this September.   Catherine is so friendly and the rooms are all original and comfortable.   A great location and lovely breakfast where you are likely to meet some interesting people at the communal table.   And of course the area is ideal for visiting the chateaux ( Chenonceau à must) and also the Garden festival nearby. And si I mention the wine?

A fantastic home from home ( again)

Many thanks to our host for a warm welcome, intimate and comfortable room, fancifully decorated house and delicious breakfast, including gluten-free cakes, all homemade. Just across the Loire from the Chaumont gardens. We will come again!

The Guest House L'ONZAINE is EXCEPTIONAL in every way!

Catherine is a TERRIFIC host! She made me feel extremely welcomed and has an infectious smile, laugh, and personality. 

Her guest house is impeccable! It has an eclectic, rustic, old-world charm and is located on a quiet street. I stayed in the Boudoir room, nicely situated on a corner of the house to enjoy perfect cross breezes throughout the bedroom and bathroom. The room is beautifully decorated and spotless. It was literally the most comfortable bed I slept in throughout two weeks in France. You will NOT find a more restful bed!

The grounds and gardens surrounding her house are beautiful, relaxing and peaceful.

Her breakfast is not to be missed and is full of delicious fresh fruits, breads, cakes, and juices. 

It is very conveniently located for touring the many grand chateaus of the area. 

This is an exceptional value! I cannot wait to return to Guest House L'Onzaine anytime I am fortunate enough to visit the Loire Valley.

EXCEPTIONAL IN EVERY WAY!

Wow, this place was exceptional!!  I found L'Onzaine nearly out of the blue---by randomly clicking on hotels in the Loire Valley that showed up on Google Maps.  L'Onzaine was absolutely perfect for our stay in the Loire Valley.  The village of Onzain is right across the river from Chaumont and also in between Chenonceau and Chambord so everything's at most a 40-minute very scenic drive.  The village itself is a bit sleepy but has very friendly shopkeepers and a wonderful restaurant (La Charbonnette).  There are also great restaurants across the river in Chaumont-sur-Loire, only a 5-minute drive.

We stayed in the Ailleurs room, which I did not realize was actually a suite with two rooms.  This was perfect for my friend and I to each have our own space while sharing a bathroom.  The rooms were absolutely lovely, so beautifully decorated with such thoughtful touches like filtered water provided daily in glass bottles.  Catherine was great (speaks English very well) and gave us recommendations and booked restaurant reservations for us.  Breakfast each morning was baguette with 4-5 different jams (she makes them herself) and some bundt cake and yogurt.  We sat at a communal table with the other guests.  

Also Catherine's garden is the perfect spot to relax.  She has many tables and chairs, and we shared a bottle of wine with some cheese and baguette one afternoon under the trees.  An absolutely lovely time.

Rustic charm in a quiet village

Well, every so often one really lucks out when picking a B&B out of the blue. Particularly since ratings on this (or other sites) are often...tendentious. I found the place online (on a French site) and certainly took comfort in the 3 out of 4 rating on "Gites-de-France". We've had other good experiences with 3 or 4 rated Gites locations in the past. So that got us over the hurdle.

The proof was in the pudding... as they say. The hostess, Catherine, bought an old dilapidated property about 5 years ago, gutted it and completely and purposely remodeled it into lovely rooms, state-of-the-art bathrooms, noise abatement etc. Her attention to detail and desire to offer a perfect stay does not go unnoticed. Besides she speaks English very well. 

Catherine is eager to offer culinary, touristic and other pointers....and she knows her stuff. Having retired from a professional career in international marketing in Paris she understands the finer points about culinary styles and life in general. We extended our stay to truly soak up l'Onzaine, its bucolic surroundings and the relaxing atmosphere of "la vie campagnarde". And, oh yes, we saw a few Chateaux. Impressive but nothing like the charm of l'Onzaine.

Refined, tastefully decorated, brand-new amenities....a little "4-Seasons" in Onzain?

Our second stay at this wonderful little place and we still love it. Catherine is a wonderful host and her rooms are impeccably decorated and immaculately clean. All chateaux are in easy reach and restaurants both local and not so local are of very good quality. We would gladly recommended this BnB to anyone seeking a wonderfully traditional chambré d'hotes in the middle of the Loire at a fantastic price.

Love this place 

I spent 5 nights at L’Onzaine and loved every minute of it. Catherine is the most incredible host and she has taken care to design and decorate each room of her guesthouse beautifully, tastefully and with comfort in mind. 

Breakfast each morning was deliciously laid out with fresh bread, preserves, various teas, coffee, homemade cakes, juice, fruits and yoghurts. I was also fortunate to enjoy an evening meal sampling local wine, cheeses and cured meats that she prepared for everyone in house. 

Catherine’s restaurant and chateaux viewing recommendations were spot on, and she goes out of her way to book you in or provide tips on when and where to go. 

I hope to return in the near future with my fiancé as L’Onzaine is a perfect slice of paradise to be savored with someone you love!
