Gilles and Tanur are the most lovely and kind hosts we ever met. Their style is really stunning. Every appartment or room has a Unique style and the court and swimming pool is amazing. Once you enter the door the Amazing starecase blows you from your feet. We had marvelous breakfast and brunch and enjoyed the quite and easy atmosphere while we were there during our three day stay for a wedding. ❤️

Amazing stay on a perfect location with Great hosts and perfect styling ❤️

The house is very well kept and decorated by its 2 hosts. They are very friendly and are always ready to give you great tips for trips in the region. Each room is different and has its own charm. When the weather permits, breakfast is served in the patio. We really enjoyed the calm and relaxed atmosphere. 

Great retreat in the countryside near Uzes

Les Sardines aux Yeux Bleus guesthouse was booked by friends of ours who couldn’t make this summer it due to the pandemic travel restrictions but we will be forever grateful to them for introducing us to this wonderful place. The Hosts Giles and Tanur have created such a welcoming atmosphere in this beautiful house. We stayed in the Green Room which was huge and so comfortable. It overlooked the pool where I spent a lot of time cooling off and watching the swallows swoop and dive. The breakfasts in the garden were also a highlight for us stretching out a lot longer than planned each morning. And the hosts were also a treasure trove of information about the area. I am already plotting how I can get back there soon. 

Holiday

We spent a wonderful week in this rural B&B. There are 3 self catering apartments, all with kitchen and some outdoor space, and 3 en-suite rooms. We were on the ‘Small apartment’, which was large enough for the two of us, with a lounge area, kitchen and large terrace, and a huge shower room.  Well equipped, though the bedroom needed a bedside lamp and at night the lighting in the kitchen was dim. 

Gilles and Tanur are wonderful hosts and provided so many good suggestions for places to see, off the beaten track restaurants, picturesque road and trails. And when we had an early checkout to return home, Gilles didn’t need to knock on our door at 6.30 on a Sunday morning to offer to take down our suitcases, but it was greatly appreciated. 

Breakfast is on a long table in the courtyard, taken communally, which made for a very friendly morning as all the guests   got to know each other  and planned their day. Very good coffee, bread, croissants, fruit, cheese etc. 

The pool is small but warm enough in mid September for a swim in the afternoon. 

Les Sardines is in a small hamlet about 8 minutes drive to the nearest Intermarche, a very good supermarket, and 12 minutes from Uzès, a lovely market town with many very good restaurants. 

The whole ambience was great, strongly recommend. 

Idyllic rural stay

Had a lovely stay at this quaint little B&B tucked away in Provence. Definitely the place to go to, if you’re looking for an authentic “South Of France village -living“ experience. The peace & tranquility of the place and breathtaking beauty of the french countryside all around is an added bonus.
Parts of this particular house date back to the times of the Crusaders, making it almost a 1000 year old property ! It is situated on the Pilgrim’s Route, making it irresistible to history buffs interested in the Knight Templar history. We loved that history part ! 
The house is divided in : Salon & Dining room on the ground floor, 3 en-suite rooms on the first floor and two apartments with kitchenettes on the second floor. There’s an extension of the main house, the maisonette, which is on the other side of the Al Fresco dining area. It houses another apartment on the first floor. All of these are generous sized and the bathrooms are also very generous sized and absolutely delightful. 
Quirkily decorated, the owners seem to have given the property considerable thought and have preserved the "old village feel" to maintain authenticity, yet taking care to make sure it doesn't cause inconvenience or discomfort to the guests. All the rooms have very distinctive characters and each has a different colour theme. All three apartments too differ in lay outs with each having its own character. whats more, they come equipped with small kitchenettes. Perfect for families with young children or the ones who like to cook on their own.
 Since we were a large group of friends and we had booked the entire property, we could see all the rooms & apartments and needless to say, found them to be absolutely delightful.
There’s also a generous sized swimming pool on the property, along with a small garden and the Al Fresco dining mentioned above, all running seamlessly into each other, making it a great family place to hang out in, especially if you have small kids or pets. ( Yes ! Pets are welcome there !)
The hosts, Gilles & Tanur, who have recently acquired this property from the earlier owners, are absolutely wonderful hosts. Very genuine and ever so helpful, they made us feel comfortable and helped us plan our sightseeing around there. Do spend an evening talking to the hosts in their cozy salon and you will come away feeling a sense of awe listening to their experiences of living in the bush in Africa, among many other places. It will be an evening well spent 😊
They served a good selection of cold cuts, freshly baked bread & croissants, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice,  freshly brewed coffee, tea and Milk & cereals, in their wonderful little dining area. But the best of all was her home baked cake.. the promise of something sweet to wake upto every morning :) 
in the house, we could see the little touches that go a long way to make one feel welcome, such as freshly cut flowers in little vases on the table & freshly laundered table linen, an interesting melange of books to leaf through, some board games to while away cold evenings by the fireplace.
There are lots of places nearby, worth visiting. Arles (about an hour away), of the famous Van Gogh Cafe fame, for one. Then there's Uzes, a beautiful little village just about 10 minutes away. The Saturday market there is not to be missed ! Sauve is another lovely little village, where the time stands still... Then there's the Chateauneuf Du Pape winery for the wine lovers... and drive upto Mont Aigoual for the scenic drive enthusiast.
Do ask your hosts for suggestions, even for eating out. There are many eateries some distance away from the house. Hire bicycles, rent a car to drive around and you won't regret going on this holiday !

Authentic french "village living" experience !

We had a perfect stay as Les Sardines! The house is beautiful, with perfect touches throughout. The rooms are spacious, decorated beautifully, and the en suite bathroom was excellent. Our favorite part was coming down to an incredible breakfast setting—fresh cake every morning! The hosts were so accommodating and made several reservations at local restaurants for us. They were lovely to chat with. I couldn’t recommend this place anymore!

A lovely getaway!

Relaxing typically French elegant spaces, very comfortable bed, attentive friendly staff. Loved it. Beautiful courtyard, excelkent breakfast, good restaurant and local attraction recommendations and charming other guests,

Fabulous

Two years ago we had already visited the Sardines and liked it very much, so when we decided to come to France again it was totally clear that at least part of it had to be spent there. When we arrived, there was a little shock as we learnt, that there were new owners who took over that very day. But soon it became clear that they are as lovely, competent and enthusiastic as the former owners Olivier and Anna Karin were, so we had nothing to complain of. On the contrary we spent two lovely evenings with them, sharing a bottle of wine and the interesting stories about their former life in Africa. 
We love everything about this charming house - the vicinity to the lovely town of Uzès, how it is furnished, the very nice breakfast (fresh cake every morning!) and that it is located in the countryside.
We definitely want to return another time - just a pity that the journey from Austria is such a long one.

Another perfect stay

We loved every moment at Les Sardines. Not only have the owners created a charming and really magic place, but they were also very friendly and very helpful when we needed any information. The breakfast was great, so were the fleamarkets we visited and the charming little town of Uzes.
Wish, I could return soon!
