The view from our room was so beautiful we returned earlier to the hotel to enjoy it. It is breathtaking, and if the sky is clear don't forget to go on the terrace if you wake up at night, the stars are very clear here. Demi-pension, and did not regret it, absolutely up to standard, local and very good service. Both the restaurant and the breakfast room offer the same incredible view (but that from the room is higher and from to sides). I loved it. 

Incredible views, very nice people, very decent food

I stayed one week at the manoir to unwind and do my writing.  The staff was unfailingly attentive and the room I had had wonderful sea views through its bay window. Breakfast daily was a small but sufficient buffet. Dinner was included in my stay and the food was of a very high quality. Walking a half a kilometre in one direction gets you to a nice creperie, the Trestrignel, or walking three quarters of a kilometre in the other direction gets you to the town center. The rooms were very quiet which I appreciated. I can certainly recommend the manoir.

Nice getaway in a lovely setting

We had the most exceptional 3 day stay at this lovely hotel.
Everything at Manoir du Sphinx was top notch - the rooms, views, breakfasts and staff but the dinners were beyond belief!  This restaurant did not disappoint!  We ate our three dinners in the hotel and we were glad we did, with both excellent food and service..
Our stay at Manoir du Sphinx helped to make our Brittany trip truly special and we would highly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyable Stay

Had dinner, June 2018.  Varied menu - fish was excellent.  Superb coastal views from the restaurant - but residents have precedence for these tables!  Very good service and professional attention.  Would revisit.  Get there early if you haven't booked.  Car parking could be a problem on the narrow, cliffside road.

So what is the riddle of the Sphinx?

Why are there so many glowing reviews for this place?

How can the hotel have been renovated yet it feels so dated?

How do the dishes produced by the restaurant look so good in the reviews, whilst our experience was more like a school-dinner with expensive ingredients?

Is it worth €250 for room and dinner for two, with wine?

The short answer to the last question is no - definitely not. But why???

The undeniable lure of this hotel is the view, which is stunning. However the "renovations" seem to have been limited to UPVC windows in the dining and breakfast rooms. Unbelievably, the (4-inch thick) bars of the window run along at eye level, which interrupts the view. Why would anyone make such a glaring error???

We had taken a demi-pension room (breakfast and dinner included). Dinner was very ordinary - there was a no choice set menu. The hors d'oeuvre was lobster salad, but it had no flare. The main was braised leg of lamb with boiled vegetables, which was truly awful (my wife didn't want to eat it), the cheese board was OK (not much to go wrong there) and the desert was tarte-tatin (served as individual portions). I suspect the a la carte menu would have been better, as long as you get a table near the window (otherwise I would forget it). The least said about breakfast the better - it was completely charmless and disorganised.

The rooms really need updating. The decor is tired and dated (I would say late 1980s). There are no facilities in the room (no tea, coffee, safe - and no working WiFi), one picture on the wall - an A4 print in a clip frame above the bed. Very utilitarian bathroom and separate toilet. The corridors smell of laundry and cooking.

Strangely, there is a complete lack of communal space - you are either in your room, in the corridor or in the dining room. Thankfully it was a glorious evening when we stayed, so we took our aperitif in the garden, which is lovely.

The nearby bay is 200m down the road, which is beautiful with a nice sandy beach.

If we had had bad weather, we would have left this hotel in tears. As it was, we merely felt that we had given our money to an institution that is clinging on to its eroding reputation - this is a hotel that needs a drastic overhaul.

Oh and why is it called The Sphinx? It's because of the resemblance of the outcrop of rock in the garden when viewed from the bay.



Very dated and tired hotel in a beautiful spot

Lunchtime set menu. See their website. Amuse bouche (?), starter, main, sweet, glass of very decent wine, coffee with little cakes ... just €25! And the quality of the food was amazing. Everything just melted in the mouth with sensational tastes. Service was literally first class too and the view has to be one of the best around. We will DEFINITELY go back :)

Fantastic lunch

We stayed for a long weekend at the end of October and were delighted with this hotel located right on the sea and a bit outside of main town Perros-Guirec. The dining room as well as the breakfast room have good views onto the sea and the garden at the bottom of the hotel. The room we had also had good views. The bathroom was fitted with an excellent shower and the rest of the amenities was verygood and clean. The mattress seemed quite new and we had two very good night sleep. Overall a very nice experience complemented by a restaurant that is not far from a Michelin star.

Very well located and excellent service

Don't save on the cost for a room with sea view - it is worth it. This manor house which was turned into a hotel in the 1930 is the perfect getaway for a romantic couple. Treat yourself to their fantastic dinners or book demi-pension. The food is excellent although the atmosphere in the restaurant is a little "stiff". Don't worry if you do no know all the names of the about 12 different cheeses. Their seafood is excellent. 
After an opulent dinner, walk down the hill to Plage de Trestrignel and dig your bare feet into the white sand - ahhhh!!!
