Clean, staff friendly, basic but OK for an overnight after arriving late in Limoges. Loo space tight, bathroom functional. Remember to book parking if you need it. Good restaurants round about as it is fairly central.

Ok for a stop over!

Stayed here for a night, 2 double rooms costing €74 per room per night, breakfast was extra €10pp...room very basic and very small, but was warm and bed despite looking it's age was ok, although having been awake for 30hrs I would have slept on a plank.....tired looking bathroom but hot water, although no shower curtain/door so water went everywhere. Had evening meal, 3 course set menu €24pp, lovely homemade meal, couldn't fault it. The place reminded us of 'allo 'allo, it was typically French but we thought overpriced for what the room included. Madame was friendly and welcoming, despite her obviously having a stinking cold. Breakfast was delicious, nearly everything is homemade and the coffee was wonderful. 

Very expensive ~ Basic, but great home cooked meal

The menu on the wall outside appeared reasonable, so we entered and booked a table for 7.30, the monsieur seemed quite affable and welcoming. (We were actually staying in a different hotel further down the main street).
Returned duly at 7.30 to be confronted by the "old dear" who stood scratching herself all-over!!...no greeting, no conversation, she just showed us to the table.
No one else was in the restaurant, which we always find a little worrying. The décor is as described in all previous reviews ...not too bad just a little dull and dated.
When we mentioned we were "en route" and staying at another hotel in the village, we definately got the impression she wasn't to pleased about us using her restaurant under such circumstances .....lots of tutting and mumbling throughout the duration of our meal.
The wine menu is extensive and an interesting read (including wines from 1975 and early eighties).....but expensive. I have to admit due to it being so old I thought the prices were still in francs!!
Whilst I was reading it she just closed it and removed it from the table without a word. Stunned, we ordered a demi picher of house red (she brought two), which may have been due to poor communication....I suspect she couldn't hear me above her constant tutting and mumbling.
We chose the 19.50 menus. The starters were a jumble of (freezing cold) pickled veg, salad leaves and a piece of terrine - edible,(just) no further comment.
Main course we both had the slow roasted ham with sliced potatoes in a creamy garlic sauce. The ham was good and tasty so too the potatoes.
Dessert was the peach clafouti (with green bits in it!!) which arrived without cream, ice cream or crème anglais with only a dusting of icing sugar. We hope it was "fait en maison", but, green bits aside, it was a bit soggy. When "madame" brought them to the table she spoke!!.....telling us the "l'addition est en reception"
By this time we had had enough (unfortunately not of good service or food). The bill was a hefty 50 euros, for frankly, mundane food and appalling service.
We said "boinsoir" to monsieur and thanked him for the ham, we left madame to her "scratching" and certainly left no tip.
If you like mediocre expensive food with really bad service in dull surroundings; give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Arrived at 1.45 needing a quick off motorway stop for lunch, we were greeted  by the young waitress and seated on the terrasse. The older lady grudgingly brought us menus and then after we had chosen told us we couldn't have the menu. But she would allow one choice for all of us Cep mushroom omelette 17 euros each with no accompaniment, not even a limp lettuce leaf.Knives and forks were place on the table but thrown toward my Black-British son in law, who felt awkward for the rest of the meal We ordered wine and soft drinks. It then started raining cats and dogs through the awning so were ushered into the dining room. Omelettes finally arrived under ornate silver cloches. They were tasty but way to expensive and cooked a little too softly for our taste. No-one checked whether we were ok and no drinks arrived- although we were charged for them  . We felt like we were just a nuisance.

Unwelcoming and How much!

Hotel is very dated it  is like staying at your Grandmas house when she has lived on her own for the last 50 years. The hotelier reminds me of Basil Faulty and is not really interested. The bathrooms are tired as is the whole place
