Where do I start??   So wish we could have stayed longer. Thibaut was a host like no other. We stayed in Yurt, outside main house, surrounded by beautiful garden filled with birdsong. Involves a walk to bathroom, but we loved it!!  Thibaut gave us a short tour, ensuring we were settled in, and their dog Nova was gorgeous!  

Breakfast was … AMAZING!  Fresh eggs from their chickens; homegrown honey, nuts, brilliant apple juice; homemade tarts, brilliant bread. 

Honestly, if you’re in the area, stay here!

Le Clos St-Gilles is a beautiful place in a great countryside location near Mont St Michel. We stayed in the yurt in the garden and loved the experience. It was very cosy and we woke up to beautiful bird songs. The breakfast was delicious and we loved tasting all the local produce. Thibaut was a lovely host and gave us great recommendations for our time in Mont St Michel and for the rest of our trip. I wish we had been able to stay longer. We absolutely loved it.

The photos do not do it justice! It was my favorite lodging of our trip. So beautiful and lovingly restored inside and out! The hosts are so kind and friendly, and thought of every detail. My only regret is that we only had one night to stay during our trip. I would highly recommend you make a reservation without hesitation.

Pampered in the countryside

I had a wonderful stay at Clos Saint-Gilles as a solo female traveler. It’s apparent that the owners, Tatiana and Thibaut, have put so much heart into the guest house. It has lovely and artful touches everywhere. It’s both beautiful and cozy. My room was tastefully decorated and had everything I needed. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were updated and spacious with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The view of Mont Saint Michel from one window and a view of the Clos Saint-Gilles  lovely garden from my other window- what views to wake up with! I can go on. First, they are very patient and will let you practice your French with them. Of course their English is excellent. But I was amazed at how thoughtful they were to handle the language learning interactions. That was above and beyond. Another wonderful detail about this place is the breakfast. It’s a feast and many of the items are made in-house. Your egg will be cooked perfectly. And, they mix up the options, so you will be delighted with something new throughout your stay. All was very delicious. Tatiana & Thibaut also give great recommendations, whether it’s a lovely meal or the best route to Mont Saint Michel, including map, explanation, and even plugging it into your cellphone GPS. In summary, I’m going to be very American here and call this place AMAZING! It’s special and I’m glad to have stayed at such a beautiful place with such welcoming hosts.

Wonderful!

This B&B offered a wonderful location—very close to Mont St Michel.  We had booked a chain hotel closer but cancelled after reading the negative chain hotel reviews.  We’re glad we did! The hostess pointed out a nice viewing place to see the Mont at night right around the corner from her place.  She also allowed us to dry our wet clothes after a day of sightseeing in the pouring rain. 

The room was large & nicely decorated.  The bath was was wonderful.  Plenty of water pressure.  The gardens were beautiful also.  The breakfast next morning was great.  Everything you could ask for.  We we highly recommended this B&B & would certainly stay here again.

Wonderful B&B Close to Mont St Michel

An excellent three night stay at this charming property, we stayed in the chapel and it was ideal. There was a large living area, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and well sized bedroom. The kitchen seemed brand new, I think we might have been the first people to use the oven to warm our croissants.

The owners local restaurant recommendation was an excellent choice as well. A short car ride takes you to a footpath across the meadows to Mt Saint Michel (about a 50-60 min walk). 

Downsides - not really any but the cupboard for the glasses above the microwave was too tall for my wife and even I would have struggled to reach the glasses at the back. A few irritating flies made their way in but you are in the country so I guess you should expect that.  

An excellent three night stay at this charming property

We just came back from 12 days touring Normandy. Le Clos Saint Gilles is the most memorable place we stayed in. I wish we had booked for more than one night. I agree with everything the  other 5- star reviews say about this place and I am thankful to all those who contributed and caused me to book there.  It is a beautiful old stone farmhouse with a wonderful chateau- like garden in the back. The room and bathroom we had is charmingly furnished, spotlessly clean  and comfortble. Our hosts, both of whom speak excellent English, are as wonderful as the place is-- very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast was really the best we had during our trip ---fresh and organic  juice, eggs, bread, herbs--all from their garden or from the area. Do not hesitate to stay here and stay for more than one night!!

The best place to stay

We are so fortunate to have stayed at this homey yet elegant guest house, welcomed by an extraordinarily warm host family.  Everything was perfect: the delicious breakfast with fresh eggs, honey, fruit from their garden accompanied by oven-fresh chocolate pastry; the beautiful rooms and baths; the garden perfect for relaxing or exploring.  Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

The perfect guest house, the most welfoming hosts

My husband and I, along with our 5 children (ages 8-15) just returned from our trip to France. We were thrilled with our stay at Le Clos Saint Gilles, which is just minutes from Mont Saint Michel. We stayed in the newly renovated section of the home called 2 gîtes. It was perfectly situated for our family of 7 and even had its own living space, kitchen and 3 bathrooms. All the amenities were new and decor was modern. We were greeted by Tatiana who immediately upon our arrival helped us to make dinner reservations and showed us around the home. She served a lovely breakfast the following morning made fresh from her kitchen using things from her garden or locally sourced.  It was our favorite breakfast while in France. Even before we arrived, Tatiana was so helpful by giving tour guid and restaurant suggestions. Tatiana has a lovely daughter who played with our children in the beautiful gardens of the home. The language barrier seemed not to matter and we were thankful for the time our girls had to play outdoors. We could not recommend this home enough.

Perfect stay for our family of 7 just minutes from Mont Saint Michel

In all of our years of traveling abroad, this B&B was our absolute favourite. The only regret we have is that we did not stay longer. Excellent location and a beautiful walk through the country-side to get to Mont Saint Michel. Hosts Tatiana and Thibaut were the perfect Hosts and an absolute pleasure to interact with. The B&B itself was an absolute dream. The room spacious and perfectly decorated. The "full" breakfast boasted all organic and home made delicacies. The gardens immaculately groomed and an excellent haven to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
