The accommodation at Le Chateau de Puxe is a little bit shabby but provides all necessities.  Cécile is very friendly and her husband is charming.  The breakfast was fine.  There was a wedding taking place in the main building during our stay but the hotel parking area was kept separate and there was no noise.

Convenient, quiet stay close to Metz

This was our second stay - this time just overnight en route from the Netherlands to Italy. The position is super, and its really dark and quiet at night. The rustic chateau is delightful and a lot of thought has gone into individual themed decorations for each room. Service is friendly and accommodating. Continental breakfast is very adequate. Really good value.

Excellent base to tour the Verdun battlefields

On my way to Basel from The Hague I decided to take it easy and stop in a quiet place in the middle of almost nowhere.
We arrived around 16:30 pm., had a rest and then head to Metz to have dinner.
All rooms are located on the first floor, well lighted and impecably clean. Sheets on the 3-bed room were neatly ironed and all decorated in green tones, bathroom as well. We were given the keys on arrival and later we entered the room and had a very needed quiet night.
Breakfast was served at 9 in the dining room as we requested it.
Very light and simple breakfast (jam, butter, a croissant and baguette). The home made plum marmelade was very tasty.
Cécile, the lady in charge, was always very friendly and helpful.
If you want to detox from noise and enjoy the lanscape around, this is the place.
It is located between Verdun and Metz.

Hidden gem

First, the photo of the Château makes it appear as though it is a large estate with a beautiful lawn.  This photo has been photoshopped because it is actually a very small front lawn with a gravel drive and overgrown grass with a small statue in front.  Only 1/3 of this building - the far left when facing it - is the hotel area.  You never have access to anything but the upstairs room you reserve and the breakfast room downstairs.  There are deserted, run down sheds and buildings directly in front of the hotel.  The rest of the facility appears deserted or perhaps leased out for functions?   There was no history on the building made available to us.

Upon meeting us, the hostess was pleasant but upset when I had not changed our reservation from 3 to 2 people on a booking site.  She said something to me about she would have to pay more to the booking site since I had reserved our room for 3 people by mistake.  She gave us 3 sets of towels, then took away one set - which we needed - after determining it was just my husband and I.  We had paid for 3 people in the Generals Room yet only got one washcloth and 2 mismatched towels.   There was no air conditioning in our room so we had to open windows (no screens) allowing mosquitos in while we were trying to sleep resulting in bites to my face.  Breakfast was bread, butter/jam, juice with no cheese, meats, cereal, milk or eggs. There was whole fruit on the table at the far end but we had no knife to cut it.

The location is definitely out in the middle of no where.  A tractor parked in front of the building was started up at about 6 am waking us up.  Overall, it was a disappointment for the price and expectations from previous reviews.

Not What Was Expected for a Château

We are a family of 4 and stayed here for one night. The landlady booked us a table in a lovely French restaurant a few miles away - the food was delicious. The hotel breakfast was typical French but with home made jam. 
I would recommend this hotel. We stayed there on our way to Italy for skiing. 


Excellent B&B with friendly hostess 

By chance I found the Château de Puxe to be a place where my daughter and I could spend a night on our way to Reims. I was pleasantly surprised by the royal atmosphere of the mansion, and before leaving, our host explained the different phases of construction of the Château. It looks a little lost in the countryside, but that just adds to the charm, and it is definitely quiet. We went out to Jarny for the evening meal, but could also have prepared a meal in the kitchen. Our room, the red-and-white Marquis's room, was very royal, spotless and with a perfectly new bathroom. 

Living like a Marquis, only more comfortably

this was our 1st overnight stop on the way to Italy. we were very impressed. we had to double check we were in the right place.
we were met by a jolly French lady who it was clear was very proud of the place. she gave us a brief run down of the history while showing us to our very clean and recently renovated room.. the ensuite was excellent, the room spaceous.
the chateau is on the edge of a sleepy village with not much going on but within 5 mins there's a l'eclerc with a few fast food joints near to it.
the breakfast was proper French , simple but adequate. there was one other person staying and we all had breakfast together. very friendly.
