What an amazing place. We had the most pleasant time during our stay. The garden with the beautiful flowers offered great privacy and calmness. The rooms in the historic and unique houses were second to none. So much sole! The town and the countryside was idyllic and so picturesque. Thanks a bunch for our stay. Hope to be back at Maison Quarante, soon!

Amazing and unique place

We were going by bike along the Canal du Midi, and were lucky to be helped to find rooms in the Maison in Quarante. The Place was hidden behind great walls, which made it quiet and really nice after several kilomteres biking. At the side of the nice swimming pool containing salt water, the leading owning lady served Cold white wine. The rooms and belonging bathrooms were real big!!!!! Before leeaving for new kilometeres on our seats, we had nice breakfast and even got packets for lunch. The owner is even Swidish: Annika Fernstrøm. We really propose to visit her!!!!

I will recommend this place

I spent 11 days at Maison Quarante as part of an art workshop with Diane Olivier, a regular at Maison Quarante. It was truly like experiencing another era without the inconveniences. The maison has been tastefully redone; all the rooms are different and lovely in their own way. My room had an olive theme exemplified with original (old) olive leaf wall stencils. The room itself is quite large. I could have easily held an evening soiree in it and no none would have been spilling drinks because of lack of elbow room. The bed was a double and very comfortable. My bathroom was equipped with toilet, sink and shower. I was told it was one of the smallest. I could have stabled a horse in it, if I'd been able to get said horse up the spiral stair case. Being on the top floor I was very familiar with the staircase and by the end of my stay felt quite fit because of it. One of the modern conveniences is a salt water swimming pool. Not only is salt water good for the skin, but the pool is just long enough that one can stretch out and swim laps. Annika, who runs Maison Quarante along with with her cow spotted cat, provided us with breakfast which was plenty and delicious. Coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, croissants, bread, butter jam, cheeses, ham, salami, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cucumber, tomato. You get the idea. Although Quarante is a small village it is worth a walk around and has some very old and interesting parts. It is well situated for day trips. I can't wait to go back.

Yesterday's Elegance with Modern Plumbing

We have just spent an idyllic week at this charming chambre d'hôte in Quarante, a very authentic and unspoilt hilltop village in the heart of the Languedoc wine region.   Behind the handsome facade of the historic building is an oasis of airy and spacious rooms full of period charm with pretty gardens and pool.  Annika, who runs the place, was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. She is also a whizz in the kitchen serving up delicious flavorsome meals. We loved her mischievous sense of humor!   I was there to participate in a group painting course run by Nicola Blakemore, an English artist living in the village.  While I was seeing if I could paint, having not picked up a brush since school days, there was plenty to keep my husband busy playing golf, exploring the local countryside and beaches and stocking up our wine cave!  It proved to be a brilliant choice with excellent tuition, wonderful location painting on the terrace overlooking the gardens, comfortable accommodation and delicious food and wine.  Everything effort is made by both Annika and Nicola to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. We loved it!

Learn to paint in beautiful hilltop village in the Languedoc

I spent a week here with a group of friends and we were completely impressed. The house is grand scale with extra rooms to explore throughout. The beds were comfortable the quite made sleeping a dream. The grounds are just lovely, old trees cast shadow on the lush lawns and are surrounded by colorful flower gardens. And did I mention the full size salt water pool with two palms tress standing guard???!!! The village itself has just enough not to feel cut off and lots and lots to do close by. I'll be back next summer!!!

Wonderful experience!!

We stayed in Maison Quarante in family one night. The house is beautiful and elegant. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. Its garden and swimming pool are magnificent. The breakfast is delicious. 

There is a very nice restaurant "le Terminus" a at walking distance. It is an old train station transformed into restaurant.
