Warmly welcomed by the host, Valérie, with whom we'd been on contact to lengthen our stay. Bedrooms are in a couple of large outbuildings in serene gardens with some striking sculptures.
Room was comfortable,  had good aircon and was quiet and dark at night, all good.
Great pool and very good breakfast.
Very freindly staff, and whether it's a small castle or fortified farm is irrelevant, its a great place to stay.
About 40mins brisk walk to Rocamadour and it's numerous restaurants


Super place to stay, away from the madding crowds.

We stayed in a 5 star hotel a few days prior to our visit and are now in a 5 star hotel in Carcassonne. Hotel Les Vieilles Tours in Rocamadour outclasses them both. Just outstanding. The room was lovely and well appointed, the breakfast was fabulous, views stunning and our hosts Eric, Valerie and Adrienne couldn’t have been more welcoming. This is just a gem of a hotel.

Absolute Gem of a Hotel!

Amazing hotel. I loved the location and the outlook from the pool was stunning. Lovely clean pool and terrace and never crowded. Great cocktails in the evening on the terrace. Good breakfast. Lovely and attentive staff. Loved it and will hopefully return.

Great Hotel

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband in July. This is an amazing hotel. Rooms are in small blocks, very private and well furnished and decorated. Lovely room and bathroom, felt very comfortable. Lots of  small touches made the stay even better such as folding garden chairs if you want to sit outside the room overlooking the gardens. The pool is glorious with the most amazing views. We were made welcome and shown around, and given lots of information about the area. 

Breakfast was a joy, lots of fresh items available including local specialities. Breakfast can be taken in the restaurant or outside on the terrace.

A car is a must to stay here as it is a little remote and there isn’t a restaurant for evening dining on site. We chose to walk into Rocomadour both evenings for dinner. The walk takes about 20 mins through the vineyards… very pleasant walk.

Fabulous

What makes me come back year after year is the wonderfully quiet location, while being close to Rocamadour; I also appreciate the ‘look & feel’ of the place, with historic buildings combined with a new (retro-style) annex.

Another plus is the beautiful view into the typical landscape of the area, in particular at sunset; there are now deck chairs around the premises to enjoy them. The car parking on the premises has moved and is now closer to the rooms.

When you plan your arrival and departure, note the limited timeframes for check-in and check-out; call ahead or write if you expect arriving outside these hours – it is likely there will be nobody around if you don’t.

Depending on which room type you booked, the rooms can be a bit ‘cosy’; storage for your clothing can also be a bit limited. While the beds are relatively new, they are not very comfortable; however, there are two pillows to choose from. The shutters and curtains keep the light out very well – a real plus.

The bathrooms have bathtub (no shower); there is a shower curtain, but a shower rail is missing, so you can still not really have a nice shower. While good enough for one, there is limited space for toiletries for 2…3 people.

In my room I was missing a dressing mirror (the only mirror is in the bathroom); the WiFi worked with my laptop, but I could not log in with my tablet (the log-in screen would simply not appear). I appreciated the little fridge to keep my groceries cold.

The restaurant that was here before (for those who know the place from when it changed owner) does not exist anymore (the chef retired); in the room you will find recommendations and contacts for a selection of good restaurants in the area (good choices; try Martel – worth the drive…).

Wonderful retreat

We booked this peaceful quiet hotel for two nights and so glad we did! The room we very clean and comfortable, should have booked earlier to get a view but plenty of view from the lovely pool (so necessary after a day of walking villages!).  Deck chairs provided so everyone can enjoy. The breakfast was wonderful and healthy with fresh croissants, yogurts, fruit, cheese , cakes , muesli , pancakes , fresh juices and a cool boiled egg machine. The staff were very polite and helpful at every turn. As there is no evening restaurant but they had plenty of suggestions which we took and enjoyed.However I would strongly recommend you ask them to book your dinners well in advance (or do it yourself) as the good restaurants are very busy in the evening, even off season.

Beautiful quiet hotel

We had a week to drive through France beginning with Paris and ending in Bordeaux. We wanted to touch on the big tourist destinations but immerse ourselves in the local, less mentioned towns, to ensure we learnt about the real France from the people who live there.
My husband and I are foodies and love to have real connections with people and experiences.
I absolutely recommend you to put Rocamadour on your itinerary through France and that you book to stay in this amazing residence and Hôtel Les Vieilles Tours.

We heard about Rocamadour from a friend and longed to see the town built on the cliff face to where the pilgrims journeyed many centuries before to pray to the Black Madonna.
On arrival in our little hire car we were astonished by the expansive property of Hôtel Les Vieilles Tours. It sits atop rolling hills and we couldn’t have been more excited to be staying in this beautiful place for 3 nights. We were looked after by the Cailles family like we were kings in their castle, which is pretty spot on actually. The main building was built in the thirteenth century with turrets, handcrafted stone floors and secret doors and the Cailles family told us all about the history of the property and the joy they have in hosting visitors like us in their stunning hotel.
Our bedroom was large with beautiful furnishings and a very comfortable bed and the bathroom had everything we needed including a large bathtub which I loved. Outside of our room were some lovely lie back chairs where we would enjoy the sunset each evening with a glass of wine from the region.
Mr Cailles has exceptional knowledge of the best wines from Rocamadour and where to buy them.
Our hosts ensured that we were very informed about the region of which they are extremely proud to be a part of and run their family business in. The hotel houses many interesting pieces of which the family hold dear to their heart and which show their dedication to their community. Soon enough we had a full itinerary for our stay.
We did many day trips following the advice of our hosts, all of which were all only a short distance within the town. 
We visited the local Goat farm and Fromagerie and we loved to see the lovely clean environment in which these goats were kept and the process in making the Goats Cheese which this region is known for. By the way, the cheese made here is like nothing else and has to be tasted to be believed!
Next we visited a Goose farm and learned about the delectable delight of Foee Grass, which we enjoyed whenever we could during our stay.
Every day we enjoyed the beautiful countryside, visiting the nearby towns such as Alvignac and Martel, taking drives along the rolling hills, trying different restaurants also pointed out by our hosts.
The main medieval town of Rocamadour was such a standout for us that it is hard to describe. Built on the cliffs and into the escarpment this is a place that you can spend lots of time strolling through, climbing stairs to gain incredible vantage points and soaking in the history and the stories being told by the passionate village residents here. 
We will certainly return to this beautiful place!
Our host Adrien told us to visit Gouffre de Padirac. It has a very cheap entry fee and it was just amazing! There is a photo attached of inside the incredible caves. It is definitely a must to see!

Our special story about our visit to Hôtel Les Vieilles Tours Rocamadour

Rooms were very comfortable for a family of 4. The view from the hotel is splendid. 
Personnel is very kind and attentive to your needs. Diner and breakfast were very good. I would strongly recommend this hotel. 

Spacious rooms and delightful restaurant 

Never heard of Lafage in Rocamadour and this hotel is actually rather good. It’s some distance from Rocamadour - circa 4-5 kms on the upper level (ref Chateau Rocamadour) on the D673.

In a small village but very homely and well presented. Reception was courteous and interested in why we were in France. Restaurant was closed for dinner but he recommended a nearby place to eat - excellent reference.

Room was great and reasonably priced. Lovely breakfast and we would stay there again if ever in the region.

I booked this hotel in December 2017, 6 months prior to our scheduled stay for myself, my wife and 2 children. We were traveling from Paris on our check in day which is about a 5.5 hour drive away. Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic in Paris and also lost so we were delayed. I phoned the hotel to let them know. I spoke to the owner who said we must be there by 9pm. We tried our best to meet this deadline but we were struggling to get there this time. My wife called to alert the owner we would get there at around 10:45. Once the owner was told this she started shouting at wife saying “NO, NO the maximum is 9:30 or we cannot stay.” She was very loud and aggressive in the way that she talked to my wife. As it turned out we arrived in Rocamadour at 10:45 and luckily found another hotel who kindly put us up for the night. Interestingly after checking the latest check in time on my booking confirmation I found out that the last check in time is 10pm and not 9pm or 9:30 (see attached booking form). So, yes we were 45 minutes over our check in time but most hotels would be more flexible and sympathetic especially as we had children with us. And even if the hotel wanted to abide by their check in times there is absolutely no reason to be so rude! So, if you decide to stay here make sure you get there on time or you might have to sleep in your car!
