After a long drive from Bordeaux, we eventually found the hotel, down narrow country lanes and quite remote. The front gates were not open so we had to drive round the back ( very poor signage ) , to be greeted by a barking wet dog and a note on the door saying that there was no-one at home. If the frontage of the hotel looked `down at heel` the back looked decidedly tatty and looking through the windows we could see that it was not the standard that we required, so we drove off. 
The place might well suite more bohemian types than ourselves. Unfortunately we are not able to `tick the boxes ` regarding a stay, but I feel that I ought to submit a review of our experience so that others might be aware. 
As we had to get motoring to find a different  hotel for the night we did not have time to phone the hotel and tell them that we would not be staying. When we got back home in UK we were pleasantly surprised to see that we had been credited with the full amount . This was totally unexpected as we were effectively a `no show`

We had a room on the second floor, with a nice reception, with good tips for dinner.

What a wonderful surprise!

I have to confess when we arrived at this old beautiful building I did think we had the wrong place - it looks a little run down from the back where you park. However we were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms- we had 2 rooms with a bathroom connecting them so perfect for a family. The rooms have incredibly old furniture and fittings - it's like going back in time! But the bedding is very good quality, beds were comfy, bathroom modern and all exceptionally clean. There were nice toiletries in the bathroom and bottled water in the rooms. Our host booked us dinner at a place nearby which was just great ( La Petite Auberge). The gardens of this wonderful home are huge and beautiful. And finally breakfast was just superb with gorgeous breads, croissants, home made jams, hams, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fruit and yoghurts. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful - would definitely recommend. 

A wonderful old family manoir hidden away! 

It is a beautiful setting, 18th century mansion on the huge land with gardens and pond, chateau itself has a lot of character, you can feel the quality in every detail from the bed sheets to the breakfast set. Best breakfast in our 6 days France trip with fresh yogurt, ham, cheese, good selection of bread and homemade jams. The host is amazing, very sophisticated and helpful. Though it's a bit hard to find, but it's so worth it!

Hidden gem

Stayed one night on way to the South of France, we were a group of four friends, it was found on the internet, so you are always a little concerned. Firstly the place is so difficult to find, even with sat nav, we were so lucky that we stopped and asked a gentleman, who kindly led us to the gates of this impressive Chateau, in truth we had our doubts that it was the right place, a long winding drive led us to a most impressive home. We were welcomed by our hostess, and shown to our rooms, offered tea in their lounge. The rooms were comfortable, the bathrooms modern just the job, breakfast was delicious, fresh bread and croissant, home made jams, fresh fruit etc etc. The estate which runs to over 1000 acres is the home to pheasant shooting during the winter, and fishing in the summer. Very good value and ideally located for a stop off on the way south, just please improve the signage. It was a shame that we could not have had drinks and an evening meal though, we eventually drove to a restaurant locally, making sure we knew our way back to the chateau.

Like joining the aristocracy

Room (beige) was beautiful as was the whole building and grounds. Extremely comfortable and we felt so at home.  We stayed only one night and I was so sorry to leave. I'll definitely be back and will recommend to anyone traveling in the area. Savina (the host) was amazing - the breakfast was too!  2 friendly and happy dogs - we loved being there and so pleased we'd found this. A super experience, thank you!
