The quiet and luxury of an unusual bed, too beautiful SDB, toiletries......a happiness...I'm not talking about that air conditioning.....the top!!! no noise.....short paradise To recharge is the perfect place, You're walking downtown..... For the shops, well, for the restaurants, it's something else.... You'll have to take the car....

Staying on a cloud.....

We stayed three nights and enjoyed the comfort of our very well-arranged and decorated room, with an exceptional bed! The villa is very well located, close to the beach, the harbor and the restaurants! Our guests are very pleasant, discreet and well advised on the right addresses in the area. We appreciate the quietness and sound of the rooms (while ours was on the street), including the air conditioning. Breakfast is very pleasant, well composed. A nice address to remember for a stay in Royan!

Comfortable, quiet and very well located!

We booked a stay in this hotel but were very disappointed to discover that the toilet was situated within the bedroom, just separated by a curtain.  That this was the case was not obvious from the photographs on the booking in website. We felt that this was unacceptable and asked that our booking was cancelled.  The owners were unprepared to cancel so we had to pay the cancellation fee albeit slightly reduced. Not very happy!

Dissapointed

We are very kindly welcomed by the guests in this tastefully and very originally decorated two-storey villa. The villa is in the immediate vicinity of Charles-de-Gaulle Square and therefore the marina. The environment is quiet and it is easy to find a place to park. The continental breakfast is served on the ground floor in a bright room overlooking a small garden. The room is reasonably spacious with bathroom. The toilets are separated by a simple curtain, which creates a bit of privacy.

Very pleasant stay.

Our room was perfect, nothing was missing and the bedding is fantastic! Breakfast is in a nice patio and our guests are taking little care to make your stay a unique and very pleasant experience. It is impossible to stay anywhere else on our next stage in Royan!

Charming guests for a refined place.

We spent five wonderful days of a very warm welcome, a well-stocked lunch with good products, a pleasant, well-located room in the heart of Royan, and we recommend this room for a quiet stay.

Very pleasant.

We stayed for 3 nights .I agree with other commentators that there some exceptional features to this property but after three nights at 150 euros a night we left with a feeling that there were some significant negatives and overall the value for money was poor .The positives : 

1.LOCATION :within 3 mins walk of the beach and the promenade .

2.CLEANLINESS :this place is forensically clean .

3.QUALITY :the quality of finish ,the bathroom spec. the shower and the bed are absolutley THE BEST .The shower tiles are exquisite .

4.THE HOST AND HOSTESS :are both friendly and attentive and despite not speaking English tried to engage .

5.THE PATISSERIE :Simply the best croissants and baguette on the planet !

However at the price there were some negatives :

1. NOISE : The owners have tried very hard to 'soundproof 'the rooms .There are electric window shutters and the doors are sealed .But one can hear the lift operating  in next doors Hotel Agathe .Its goes all day and as late as its guests are up .It was very noticeable on our first night .Secondly, the soundproofing with the adjoining room was poor ..much poorer than an average hotel .

2.POOR AIRCON:the in room switches and the notice on the door suggest one has individual in room control .We are pretty gadget savvy .We spent an hour over the first night trying in vain to operate the aircon .We couldnt .The in room temp was unacceptably hot with the sun hitting the double glazing .It became clear the system was in fact centrally controlled by the Hosts .I was not impressed by the disingenuity of his explanation .At 150 euros a night in a hotel I can have the room as cool as WE desire not as determined by the owners .

3.MINIMALIST BREAKFAST :One small  bottle of supermarket orange ,one croissant ,one viennoiserie and a un peu de baguette with a small flask of coffee .Thats it .6 euros in a cafe with a choice of drinks and cheese thrown in .That said the pattiserie was excellent but we expected more for 150 euros .

4.NO ENGLISH TV :Again we expected at least BBC World news or CNN at the price .No French subscriptions channels either.Mean perhaps .

5 .AMBIANCE :Theres a prominent sign in the window informing you if you break anything or take anything you are done for .Again if you can afford 150 euros  a night for 3 nights are you really there to steal towels ? Theres a large Silver cross type pram with a life-like baby installed in the hall ?Theres cctv from the moment you enter .Theres disturbing mirror glass on the hall and landing doors ...Why ..ones feeling of privacy is compromised .One felt a little on edge in public areas .Of course some of this is subjective ..but for me the ambiance was intrusive and tense ..we found it difficult to relax .The brightly coloured cutlery in the Breakfast room which ''co ordinates'' with the table and chairs is the stuff of the Madder Hatters .

6.THE ENSUITE LAYOUT  : the ensuite is open affording no privacy for guests sharing a room .The curtain is the only visual shield .There are some sounds and aromas one would prefer not to impose on ones room mate however intimate the friendship !

Overall ...we left dissatisfied ...for the price we expected more and would have got a lot more for the same money in a hotel .Its a shame because the VILLA Orion has a lot going for it .

Mixed Bag ...overall overpriced .

Stayed for two nights over the Bastille holiday. The couple who own this place go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The whole of this small hotel is beautifully furnished. It is helpful if you can speak a little French.  The location is great, being close to the centre of Royan and a large shopping area. The mattress on the bed is 37cms deep, such comfort I have not found elsewhere.
Would be worried small children might damage some of the beautiful funiture.
Cannot check in before 5pm.

Elegant and such a comfortable bed.

This is a small place with only 4 rooms.
From the outside it looks like any other house but this hides a wonderfully decorated and furnished gem. The whole house is beautifully decorated and the furniture is exquisite (it looks as if it should be in the French equivalent of Beautiful Homes - if there is such a thing!).
There are only 4 bedrooms and as we were the only guests had a choice. We were shown all four and frankly it was difficult to choose. Each was furnished differently - and each stunning. To make it easy, I simply chose the first we saw! 
Breakfast is typically French - bread (excellent), jam (two types - both excellent) croissant, pain chocolat and small pastries but my wife and I were unable to finish what we had.
The owners are extremely friendly and proud (rightly) about the house (they showed us around and told us it took them 3 years to get the house ready to open) but their English is limited so it helps to speak a little French.
It is a B&B but nothing like we have ever seen before (and I guarantee nothing like you imagine!)
The location is perfect as its in a quiet street in the centre and close to the beach, harbour and ferry port. We had no trouble parking in the street where the parking is free. 
I guess you will understand why I recommend the Villa Orion
