We stayed for five nights at La Louverie on our second trip to the hotel, with our small children. 
Alain and Isabelle have a really special place, which comes into its own in the summer with a pool, tennis court, large pond with rowing boat, lawns, and woods. The gardens are beautifully maintained with lots of shady benches, deck chairs and hammocks for relaxing, with out door tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is splendid with cakes, pastries and jams.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming despite the decor being stylish and sumptuous.
The hosts speak English very well and are happy to help you arrange appropriate restaurants and things to do.

We would return in a heart beat.

P.S. As this is a beautiful old house the rooms do not have modern air con, but fans are provided.

A beautiful and relaxing holiday.

Excellent stay in this place in the heart of the Norman countryside. Very warm welcome from the owners. Great house kitchen. Very beautiful house and beautiful grounds. Very exceptional and very comfortable room. Stay without false notes. A real parenthesis very much appreciated...

A dream trip to the Norman countryside

It takes a little bit of finding but a couple of wrong turns faded into irrelevance as we drove up to this truly delightful chambre d'hotes. Stylish, elegant, quirky and charming, this beautiful family home has been converted into a real 'destination' - we couldn't have wanted for more. Our bedroom was spacious and beautifully appointed, the bathroom had the best shower we have ever used (and we have travelled...) and the shared public areas are absolutely delightful, filled with a mixture of vintage and elegant modern finds. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful in making my husband's birthday special, finding us a lovely local restaurant for dinner that night as la Louviere doesn't serve meals on a Monday. Lovely little touches like a glass of wine before we went out and a lovely breakfast in their relaxing dining room, all made for a fabulous stay.

Totally Charming

We enjoyed a 3 night stop over at La Louviere before a Euro Camp holiday in the south of France this summer. Even though we arrived in the rain we were given a warm welcome from Alain, wife Isabelle and their daughter. The house is absolutely stunning and has been lovingly restored and beautifully decorated by the couple over the past decade or so. Initially, we stayed in adjoining rooms with our two young boys the rooms were spotless and comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves so much with the gorgeous heated pool and excellent meals that we booked back in again on our way back from the  Euro Camp! This time we were in the suites upstairs which were sumptuous and superb. Nothing is too much trouble, and we felt so very at home here our boys loved running around the garden, playing tennis and also Venus the dog. We met some lovely guests when we were there and would return in a heart beat. Thank you Alain and Isabelle.

Stunning place.

We stayed the night here recently on our way back to Cherbourg to catch the ferry as it is a convenient stop off point back home at the end of the holiday.
Like another reviewer, we also unfortunately managed to time our stay with a visit from several members of the owners family, so we were also told that we would have to drive into Alencon for supper (although the reason given for no supper was that the assistant cook had cut his finger): having dinner onsite and an early night for us and our small child after a 5 hr drive and a 5 hr drive home the following day had been a major draw.
We arrived just after lunch on the check in day (and admittedly hadn't checked what time we could turn up) but were sent away as they still had the previous nights' guests in the room and also needed a 'bit of a break'. We were also keen for a 'bit of a break' after our 5 hr drive but had to turn around and spend some time in Alencon waiting for shops to open. It has a very sad feel to th place with lots of boarded up shops and was not particularly what we wanted to do when we arrived. But as we were told that we couldn't use the pool we had no choice.
Dinner in Alencon (I hope the last time I have to go there!) was delicious, and the glasses on champagne on arrival was a lovely touch, but we would have preferred not to have to trek out again.
No mention was made of breakfast when we checked in, but we were tired and decided that as we were leaving at 8.30 the following morning we would find something downstairs before we left. 
In fact there was no one around, and door was locked, so we had to find a key and let ourselves out so that we didn't miss the ferry! Not even a cup of coffee.
I left a note for Isabelle and received an email stating that I should have let her know what we would need an early check out. I had no idea that 8.30am was early: when you have small children 8.30am is practically lunchtime!
We paid the full amount €190 (so not cheap) for bed and breakfast and ended up having to eat a grotty plastic meal on the ferry - lovely way to remember your last meal of the holiday.......
On the plus side, it is a beautiful house and the pool was delightful and warm when we did get to use it.

Also disappointed.......

We stayed for one night with Isabelle and Alain at La Louviere. It's a stunning house. Our teenage daughters shared one room and our three year old son had an extra bed in our larger room (Aurore I think). Isabelle and Alain were incredibly gracious and welcoming. The house is beautifully decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. The pool is a decent size and very clean. We found them very welcoming towards our children. Our youngest was cooked an early supper with the family's grandchildren, and then Isabelle prepared us a "light meal" as she was unable to do a full service that night. A "light meal" meant a fantastic home made tomato tart, salad, cheese course and a crumble made with plums from their garden. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms terrific, breakfast excellent. We will be back!

Beautiful and welcoming stay

We stayed 3 nights and were utterly charmed by this gorgeous country setting, extensive gardens filled with roses and hidden nooks for leisurely lazing. Our children adored boating on the lake and of course the heated swimming pool was a major hit. Inside the house is elegant and cozy and breakfast was a feast of fresh and homemade delights. Alain and Isabelle were perfect hosts, full of advise and tips while making us feel completely at ease in their home. I can't recommend highly enough.

Quintessential rustic retreat

It's a beautiful building. We're not enjoying the pool anymore, but we were pleasantly surprised by the kitchen of this lady. A dinner in front of the fireplace. Divine worthy of a gastronomic restaurant. The bed was nice with its pillows and its duvet. We'll be back in the summer to enjoy the pool and the little secret corners of the garden.

That's great.

We spent two delightful days at La Louvière. Everything was perfect: from the welcome to our room (Aurelie's room), to the park, the swimming pool or the breakfast. The guests are very friendly, we almost feel like we're in the family:) The house and the estate are full of long books, family photos, cozy places that make you want to relax without counting the hours. We could talk about it, but the best thing is that you book a room quickly to discover this haven of peace for yourself!
