We spent a couple of days of our honeymoon in this castle and everything was wonderful! The castle, the rooms, the food, the fairytale atmosphere, the winery tour, the hosts, everything was amazing! The surroundings are very beautiful and the location is relatively close to the beach (by car). We will for sure return for a longer stay. 🥰

Merveilleux

Great historic building that was beautifully maintained with wonderful hosts who are fluent in English.This small hotel also has an excellent restaurant. Would definitely go again if I get the chance. 

Historic Gem

We visited the Chateau des Salles near the Gironde today to enquire about evening meals when our friends visit from the UK in October. The chateau is pretty and the setting calm but unpretentious. However, the chatelaine is probably the most miserable chateau/hotel/restaurant owner that it has been my misfortune to meet. His face was sour and resentful, his attitude surly and unfriendly and his approach to potential business opportunities atrocious. There was, for example, no hint of the kind of food that he has served in the past for the season, he insisted that we maintain a minimum distance whilst he wore a Covid mask - just how does he expect to serve meals to customers and maintain some sort of conviviality? -  he only gave us some basic detail on the chateau when asked and gave nothing to try to attempt to lure customers in and when we asked if we could see around the minimal grounds, he insisted that we take two minutes only!! We left thinking that if that was his approach to customer relations, then he could shove it, there being no way that we would subject our friends, or ourselves for that matter, to such misery. I do NOT recommend that people visit this place until the owner has a complete change of attitude but I fear that that will be a very long time in coming. A complete shame.

What a miserable owner!!

Oozing with elegance and traditional charm Chateau Des Salles was simply  perfect in every way.
Sylvie is the ultimate hostess at this magnificent boutique castle. Nothing is too much trouble.
If you want to feel like a princess this is the place to stay.

I spent 2 days in this Chateau and I can confirm It is an excellent place to stay if you look for pease, quiet and a tailored service out of the classic touristic route.
The owner is very discreet but open to support you with advices.
we had also dinners here and the food is of very good quality and tasty.

I would suggest this place over and over.

great relaxing experience in a 5 stars service

Spent 3 nights at this fabulous chateaux set amongst vineyards on the north coast of the Gironde. Wonderful rooms and great food (we had dinner there each night and enjoyed the meals with local produce and wine). Our host, Sylvie, could not have been more friendly and charming. Highly recommended for a visit to this beautiful area of France.

A delightful visit

Stayed one night, breaking the journey from Ouistreham to Toulouse. An interesting and secluded chateau, with a warm welcome from the owner, Sylvie, and a beautifully-furnished and very comfortable bedroom. Had dinner on the half-board package. Absolutely superb three-course meal. Overall one of our the best hotel/b&b (although it's a lot more than that!) experiences ever, and hope to stay again in the future.

A wonderful play to stay, with excellent cuisine.

My dreams from my childhood came true! For 3 days and 2 nights I was transported back in time and was the lady of the Chateau! Our host and her wonderful cats greeted us with warmth and made our stay one that is memorable. She went out of her way to see that every need was met and that we were well taken care of. The rooms are elegantly decorated and comfortable. The dinner was served in a beautiful candlelit dining room and my tastebuds were enticed! Within decent driving distance from Bordeaux and other sea side cities it was one of the highlights of our most recent trip to France. My only regrets were not eating more of the tasty pastries served in the inviting breakfast room and not extending our stay! I spent a couple hours working on my latest novel with plenty of tea and treats and the company of a very friendly feline. It was such a charming stay that it inspired me in my writing. I must come back some day!

Romantic Escape

We stopped overnight whilst driving from Pamplona to Paris. Sylvie gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home. The pre-dinner drinks were excellent followed by a delicious dinner, a wonderful sleep in a very comfortable bed and an even more delicious breakfast.

A bit of a "pit stop" but exactly what we wanted. We bought some local wine and pineau produced on the estate and departed - well rested and fed. Thank you Sylvie.

Warm & Welcoming with great food and drinks.

Warm, welcoming and personal owner, Who really tok care of all our nedsläpp. Top service by the owners personally. Good room with the extra large bed, which initially led us to this chateau. Fine dinner accompanied with fine wine.
