La Maison is a combination of B&B/Chambre d’Hote with its own self caring Gite hidden away in the garden.

The Gite is a hideaway paradise in the enclosed garden of the main house, that is owned and diligently hosted by the owners. The guests in the main house also have access to the garden and pool.
Dominique and Laurent are fantastic hosts! Very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everyday we saw them cleaning and maintaining their high standards and one day, when the local bakery was closed, Dominique gave us some of her homemade bread and waffles. Those who stay in the bed and breakfast rooms have a real treat to look forward to every morning.
Our little Gite became a home from home and we took our breakfast every morning on the little terrace overlooking the pool. Although we were only a family of three, the Gite itself is very capable of hosting a family of 6. There’s two toilets, a separate bathroom, a well stocked kitchen, a barbecue/plancha, a bar area, large indoor dining table, a sofa and other comfortable seating, but the real delight is the garden and pool, straight off your front door.
The one or two guests from the main house who did come down for a swim, never stayed for long. And even if they did there’s plenty of sun beds and seating.
The village itself has everything, especially peace and quiet. You hear the odd train now and again when it pulls into the village station (very handy if you don’t fancy driving, but often we would simply stop ourselves, to hear absolutely nothing. Total silence!
The village has a lovely bakery that’s a two minute walk away. A good butcher, also about two minutes away. A very small weekly market on Wednesday, but only if you want fruit and vegetables. 
At the other end of the village and a 5 minute cycle away (or two minutes by car) is a very well stocked supermarket and petrol station. It’s has pretty much everything! Fish counter, butchery, a large beer and wine section, a large fruit and vegetable section and all other sections that a well stocked French supermarket would have, including a small section of clothes and household supplies.
The supermarket also has an outside laundrette a petrol station and a couple of electronic car charging stations.
The surrounding area has lots to do, for everyone, and I am guessing the train would be a bonus if you don’t want to, or can’t drive. We borrowed bikes a couple of times from the main house, but we drove around mostly.
We come home after our two weeks totally rested and relaxed. We could have happily sold up everything back in the UK and moved into the Gite, with Dominique and Laurent as neighbours. We felt that relaxed and at home.
For certain we will stay here again and maybe bring some friends next time who can stay in the main house. Meeting up at the pool each morning and all barbecuing in the evening together sounds perfect. We can’t wait.......Thank you Dominique and Laurent!


Hidden Paradise

First you must find the village, it isn't on all maps or GPS. Then, when you drive up to the place, you think, "Can this be the place?" 

Well, don't judge a book by it's cover! Once inside, it is super. This small B&B, run by resident owners Dominique and Veronique, has three rooms, a nice swimming pool, and a great breakfast; the breads and marmelades made by Veronique.

Parking is no problem, they have WiFi, and are a friendly, informative couple.

Caveat: If you are tall, ask for the room behind the swimming pool.

Don't judge a book by it's cover

We and our two young-adult daughters have just enjoyed two hugely relaxing weeks in the two-bedroom gite and hope to return next year. 
The ground floor of this converted stone barn is very spacious and cool, and gives out directly on to a shady little patio (with dining table and easy gas barbecue) that overlooks the pool and the small but charming garden. The property is bounded on two sides by a very high wall, with the owners' house (incorporating a couple of chambres d'hote) at the front. All told, very secluded and as peaceful as you could ask for given that it is on a side road in a large-ish but not particularly peaceful or pretty village. It was no hardship on the hotter days to spend the day reading on the terrasse, listening to the birds (swifts, doves, house martins plus assorted twitterers), and having grapes peeled for me.
The master bedroom was a pleasure to sleep in, with large shuttered window opening on to quiet gardens at the rear; we kept them wide open all night after days of what the British call heat. The kids' bedroom is not designed for young adults and with its much smaller window would probably get stuffy in high summer -- one of our daughters slept downstairs on the floor in the cool for a few nights -- but that's nit-picking, as is the lack of proper hanging space for ball gowns etc (there's adequate shelves and drawers). 
The pool is small and more for refreshing dips than extended end-to-end swimming, and is probably best used in short solo sessions, as we did, rather than mass immersions. It is ca. 4ft-5ft deep with no shallow end and so is fun for grown-ups but kids of a certain age wd need supervision. 
The owners live on the premises --- theirs is the very sweet master house of what was once a some sort of agri business -- but are extremely nice people, solicitous and responsive without being in the slightest intrusive. I suspect they haven't been in the gite business long enough to have been soured by bad clients, messed about or taken advantage of, and long may that continue. 
Two points to note: depending on the occupancy of the chambres d'hote, it cd get a little crowded round the pool; likewise given the enclosed space, good-neighbour relations  call for reasonable levels of music etc. 
The village itself is surprisingly dusty for one that has clearly been in business (wine) for a long time, and doesn't really have a focus. It has two (good, of course) bakers, a butcher (looks good but we eat little meat), a pukkah pharmacien (as always in France) and little greengrocer (very OK, also sells the local vin --  but the big Intermarche supermarket on the approach to the village inevitably swamps local trade). There's a bar that looks pretty domestique, and the only local place to eat is the restaurant in the old hotel which is currently being renovated and cd be interesting come August. But there's loads of simple, appetising and reasonable eateries -- nothing is cheap now, not even the pizza and salad options ! --- within an easy drive.  
The area was new to us but is brilliant and the little roads a pleasure to drive on, at least in late June:   we especially liked Uzes, an easy 25km away, which has two brilliant market days a week plus lots of bars and cafes etc. It's the perfect size for a regional town and, of course, has a big vieux quartier with 18th century  etc houses which now contain shops: it's a tourist  destination but still French. 
The gite owners loaned us a dinky little book of local walks, all within easy drives, which we found v useful. Anduze is further afield but looks lively, though I feel it's probably of more interest in the spring/autumn when the walking in the Cevennes is more appealing. Nimes is much bigger and stuffier, and despite its Roman patrimoine and Tour magne etc was not our top attraction, though see below for its use as a jumping-off point.  
Lastly, good news and bad news about Montpellier, a venerable city and a Disneyland of medieval streets, cavernous cathedral etc. The pedestrianised centre is vast and atmospheric, and the Jardin des Plantes is an absolute must for anyone fond of, yes, plants, trees (some real crackers for us arborealistes), shady walkways and lily ponds. But if our experience is any guide, do not attempt to drive out of it without a native guide. Like most French cities in my experience, the signposting in/out/through is designed to confuse, lose and infuriate ... so if you're coming by train and hiring a car locally, get off at Nimes which is closer to St Genies and easier (comparatively) to get out of. The local commuter trains from St Genies go to Montpellier for that day out -- much more sympa.  
Have written at length because the owners, Dominique and Veronique, want a presence on Tripadvisor and asked me to ... despite the fact that rates and availability must be affected if this attracts more customers, and we may be talking ourselves out of a pleasant hol next summer, they deserve to succeed. 
Cautionary note: we perhaps had the best of the weather (it was hot but not stuffy) and enjoyed a virtually mosquito-free stay (hence the night-time treat of sleeping by a vast open window with the full moon shining in). July/Aout may be stuffier inside and mozzier outside, but that's pretty much the deal anywhere in la belle France in high summer.
