Away from all the rush of tourists, and set in a quiet spot is this treasure of a B&B.  The room we has was to die for with tall, tall ceiling and triple the size of a normal deluxe hotel room.  A lovely garden with absolute quietness.  River running quietly in the garden.

Madame Jocelyn could not have done more to be be helpful and provided amazing breakfasts with home made everything.  Her husbands renovations of this old farmhouse were as good as any we have seen.

Should have stayed a week, but tight schedule limited us to two nights.  Would go there again

Fantastique: Amazing room in huge garden in woodlands with pool

The Moulin de Gauty is a beautiful B&B found at the very end of the road deep in a small valley behind the pretty village of St Jean d'Alcas.  Our room was eclectic, a small living area, a substantial bathroom and a bedroom that had an immensely high ceiling with one wall covered in clocks. The things that stand out from our far too short a visit were the hospitality of the host, the access to a small kitchen, the stunning wild gardens alive with butterflies and dragonflies, the lavish breakfast and the small crystal clear stream that you have to cross as you leave your car to walk the short distance to the accommodation.  Definitely somewhere that I will go back too!

A B&B of great character in a beautiful setting

the chambres d'hotes was in a beautiful and remote setting well off the beaten path and in a beautiful part of France.  we stayed in the upstairs loft room which was beautifully decorated (and with a great shower!) and we had a good night's sleep. lovely grounds with a pretty pool. overall it was a relaxing stay and decent value for money. the landlady gave us a great suggestion for dinner about 20 min away. simple but tasty breakfast outside was marred by many swarming bees and wasps (it was quite a warm morning / few days but might benefit from keeping jams inside going forward - we are not super high maintenance, there were literally 20+ wasps and flies at our table and required a move) and this also decreased our interest in sitting outside and relaxing by the pool.  this could very easily be a 4 or 5 star experience; potential areas of improvement are: the windy, narrow stairs to our room were hard to navigate especially with bags, no wireless access except by pool (near breakfast / wasp area), a bit challenging to find (though this is a tradeoff for the rustic location it still took us a couple of wrong turns and an extra 20 min to find).

Tranquil and welcoming chambres d'hotes with a few challenges

This chambre d ' hote was a marvellous  and  unique experience. It was a bit difficult to find but well worth the effort. The room was decorated in a most interesting fashion. It is in a  beautiful natural setting close to a small river. 
Our hostess  was very friendly and prepared a lovely evening meal for us in the garden. The breakfast was also served in the garden  with local fresh products.
This is truly a place to be recommended  for the more adventurous traveller.

A wonderful find off the beaten track

This was a bit of a wild card for our trip as we were looking for something quiet but near to Millau for the Bridge views later the next day. We punched the postcode in to our satnav and arrived at the village. After a bit of asking around, we were told the hotel is around 2km down a narrow road. It was signposted with small signs but still tricky to find. Lovely place though when we got there and a warm welcome from the owner. Room was okay but access up a spiral metal staircase wasn't ideal especially with cases. Lovely décor in the "red room" with a quirky two chairs on the ceiling!
No meals offered but the breakfast in the morning was fine with fresh bread, fruit and preserves. Nice jar of honey given to us on departure so a nice touch.
Only downside to me was the location down the twisty road, not good in an expensive motor but okay as long as you have plenty ground clearance (I didn't).
