The hotel is in a great location in the village, just a few minutes on foot to everything. Yes it's quite basic but it's comfortable and quite quaint. The beds were comfortable, we had a nice balcony. Breakfast is just a basket of breads/croissants, but there was plenty of coffee and it's only 8 euros. Free parking right in front of the rooms. The owners were very nice and helpful. If I was nitpicking I'd mention that there is a bathtub with a shower attachment but no where to hang the attachment to so if you wanted a shower it was a kneeling one! But all in all we enjoyed our stay there and would go back if hiking in that area again.

Traditional mountain hotel

Hotel is in a great location within a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town.  It has private parking right outside.  The rooms, though a little old fashioned and in need of updating, are surprisingly spacious for a 2 star hotel and very clean.  They also each have a terrace which is an ideal place to have breakfast on a sunny morning.  The owner was extremely friendly, polite and helpful and when we checked out, he let us park back in the car park after we had been out in the morning so we could walk into town to have lunch.  The only negative is that, although there was a mixer tap with shower attachment on the bath, there was nowhere to hang it up.  Overall it was very good value for money.

Nice little hotel

We booked on the fly and was pleased with the result. The room was big but the beds did not allow for much sleep, way too hard. Great location with walking distance to rest of the town. Parking in front of the reception. No bar or lounge but there are places right next door with bar and restaurant.

Nice hotel, great location

We had looked up another hotel (Hotel Le Gelas), planning to stay there. We arrived at 3pm to find a note to call a number before 5 pm when staff would return. It was not possible to contact anyone. We were very pleased to find a wonderful alternative hotel with an obliging owner. We speak very little French and he spoke little English but we were able to communicate our accommodation needs and so on and he did everything to help us feel comfortable. Our unit had a lovely large deck and was clean.

Good value for money

We contacted this hotel directly 3 weeks before travelling to St Martin Vesubie, who advised us that the room rate per night was 65 Euros. We happily agreed to this but on checkout we were charged 96 Euros per night, and were told that the room we were given was 'better' than the one we booked, and therefore needed to pay more. We had carefully budgeted for all of our hotels in France and felt slightly ripped off by what happened.

The room itself was nothing special and looked like it had been  hastily cleaned before our arrival. The TV in the room did not work, nor did the radiators and it can be very cold in St Martin Vesubie. The bathroom was in need of renovation - partly due to the lack of shower curtain meaning mildew was growing in the areas which were constantly wet. The toilet could also be seen from the bedroom - due to a glass panelled door. The website pictures of the hotel are very misleading - the room we had was very dingy, and had a very funny smell.

Of the 6 budget hotels we stayed in the South of France, this was the only one we have bad memories of. We found the owner very unpleasant and rude in further correspondance. We would recommend avoiding this hotel if planning on visiting St Martin Vesubie.
