My daughter and myself stayed there for 3 nights 5 - 8 November. Although the hotel is very basic the location is fantastic, close to restaurants and busses. Cyril in reception is very helpful and he could speak to us in English which helped. He advised us on where to go and booked us a tuk tuk which was such a treat. We enjoyed our stay the only thing which I would advise is that they put glasses in the room and buy new towels for the bathrooms.

Good Location

Unfortunately we did not really enjoy our stay in this hotel.  The swimming pool is very small and not very clean, the receptionist slow and not friendly. It is hard to find a parking, the courtyard of hotel is very small.

Too basic and missing services

Situated in a strategic area of the island for starting in your business exploration or visit to the island... nice little structure only to sleep.
Little room if you are in 2 but perfect if you are alone. In case remember to ask for a double room single use... the price is the same.
Clean, comfortable without luxury, staff efficient and polite, good breakfast and a little swimming pool when you arrive tired at the end of a day and you want stay in relax
WIFI ok and laundry service ok without extra cost (self service)
At the end of the story a place unassuming but ok for couple or business man that know the value of the money. Approved!

Good base for business and not only, unassuming but ok

I must first off state the service and staff of  this place is the only saving grace the staff are very  friendly and helpful . That said the place is a dive , very out dated and old even though it is a budget resort you can get much better quality and value elsewhere so KEEP LOOKING !!!!  I had read several reviews on trip advisor and they where mixed impressions of the resort so I made a fatal error and booked here. Location is ok. Not on beach but you can walk to the beach . Lovely little pool this was clean . Rooms are bare minimum decor is hideous this place needs a serious revamp doors are mustard in color everything is old , bathroom is musty and very old fittings are loose or rusty in appearance . Air cons are very very old and I am not sure if serviced as I still have a sore throat . Save yourself the hassle I took the bullet you don't have too . I found several lovely places near by hotel with , pool. self catering kitchenette attached and modern for same price .Parking is a issue they only can fit a few cars  . There are not many hotels in st Gilles perhaps try other beaches near by like Ermitage . Showers could use a good scrub whole place felt seedy . Glad I only spent 2 nights there .Again nice staff terrible old resort

Look for something else

We did spend 10 nights at Villa du Soleil in March 2012 and felt welcome even before arriving in the island. We  had some communication (in English) with the staff before traveling to Reunion and found the staff courteous and very helpful. 

The hotel is simple but very clean and we felt at ease immediately. We were happy with the room, double bed, storage space, digital tv, free wifi, the basic toilet plus shower-only bathroom and the effective airco, The room could be made more quiet by closing the wooden panels in front of the glass doors. No direct access to the beach at Boucan Canot but 5 minutes walking along the quiet street in either way brings one to the best beaches of the island (except for L Hermitage which is about a 10-15 minutes drive). Boucan Canot and its small and cosy boulevard and guarded beach are within walking distance and safe to reach on foot.

Closed off (at night, entry with a code) parking is available but the smaller the car, the easier.
