We stayed 3 nights in the Wistub in January - low season - and were delighted. Owner is very welcoming and dinner and breakfast is excellent. The town is ex-industrial but charming when you start to walk and explore. The church bells already highlighted in other reviews dont really matter although the ringing for mass at 0700 on Saturday and Sunday morning was a bit overdone.

A very nice stay in a traditional environment

We were lucky to happen onto this cozy and charming hostel at the last minute. Our room was very comfy and spacious. The restaurant features classic country decor with lots of curly-carved wooden furniture and panelling, checkered tablecloths and cute knick-knacks. The breakfast was good, with giant hot croissants. The price was very good. We paid 85 euros for a triple. Easy free (I think} public parking in front.

Delightful family hostel nestled in the Vosges mountains

We overnighted there and had our breakfast and supper (outside) in this neat little establishment: Clean, with meticulous attention to detail in all rooms, dining- and breakfast area made our stay most enjoyable. Couples to the fact that Mme Willmann speaks also English and German helped us a lot. Dinner was of good quality (we had Eisbein) and well-priced. if I am in the area again I will definitely be there again!

good choice in the area!

The room was a little rustic and the church bells a little too close but this in no way detracted from the enjoyment at the hotel. The hotel had parking outside, we were greeted in a very friendly way. We sat outside and enjoyed a very hearty meal, with a few beers and just relaxed. In the morning we had a very good cheese, meat, pate, bread and eggs breakfast with coffee. We asked for our flask to be filled which was absolutely no problem. In fact nothing was too much for our hostess.
The room was very clean, nice bathroom and apart from the bells was quiet. To be honest though, the bells didn't really bother us that much either. We make go home after our road trip in that direction and if we do we will certainly stay there again.
Room, food, beer, flask etc all for under 120euros very good value for money. I wish more places were like this.

Excellent 

We book the room, very last minute.
We call and were very easily offer a room, without all usual complication of leaving name, card etc,....
Place was easy to find in the centre with plenty of parking outside. 
The room were great, very rustic and big change from the usual brand like ibis or holiday in !!! ;-) serious clean, nice furniture and so lovely.
we stayed for dinner and had the local meal of the day, jambon a l'os and a choucroute.
it was good and served on a nice plate.
breakfast was great, nice bread, pate, saucisson, ... butter, real butter !! mmmm
room for 75 euros and you can get a cheaper one, food, drink, wine, and room + 2 breakfast cost of 139 euros, seriously cheap for such good quality 
the owner was a nice lady who even gave us a nice Alsace wine on our departure.
we will definitely come back and perfect if you need a sleep over on your way back to home

Was not expecting such place

Booked this hotel, via another hotel. We mailed a week before our arrival to confirm our booking, three rooms for three nights. We got a conformation back to say that all was well & that we had booked three rooms. Got there the afternoon (17.00) & the women said that the hotel was full!!
She even claimed that it wasn't her name on the email!!
Never had this before & by reading another review this isn't the first time.
Be aware

Overbooked!

Only stayed 1 night en route to Italy, but it seemed to be a good base for exploring the area. Friendly welcome, good value and great evening meal. If you're travelling from the west, don't use the  Maurice Lemaire Tunnel,come via the N59 over the pass, lovely picturesque route.
