Last here four years ago, so knew what to expect. I find the hotel charming. A shared lavatory and shower hence the price, but my room and bed were spotless and the hotel is a pitching wedge from Saintes station. The weather was hot but this old building coped much better than the modern hotel I stayed at in Bordeaux. The owner doesn't speak English but is such a nice person. If you're after a room with en-suite, TV, 'fridge etc. this isn't the hotel for you, but for character oh yes!

Lovely old fashioned hotel

We found exactly what was indicated, great simplicity and sleeping for 35€ very good breakfast at 6.50€ the owner is adorable and totally dedicated to the customer thanks to being able to travel at a lower cost.

Very good value for money

Plot atmosphere family home... very clean... garden very pleasant.. very quiet... has two steps from the train station.. and the city center... reserved areas for guests in the garden or the chickens walking free..... I recommend....

three good addresses

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night last week, on the way back to the UK driving from Southern Spain. I didn't know what to expect after emailing the host asking if there was air conditioning as the weather was extremely hot. The host suggested we might want to consider staying in a higher star hotel as i had also asked for extra pillows and an iron if possible. She told me that i might be more comfortable staying somewhere a little more luxurious as hers was a small, family run hotel and could not provide any of this. As i have a pet allergy and this hotel did not allow pets, i was quite limited in choice without paying more than I wanted for just the one night. When we arrived, the host led me to a small chalet style room across a quirky, slightly overgrown but nevertheless beautiful garden. She had given us extra pillows and in broken English told me that there was a small shower in the corner of the room and a toilet just outside the door. This was a pleasant surprise as the advert had said we would have a sink in the room but would be sharing a shower and toilet. The room, decor, bedding and furniture was very simple but clean and comfortable. In the morning, we decided to purchase breakfast consisting of a croissant with nutella, fresh orange and the most amazing coffee in abundance for only 8 euros in total. Parking was also free and very secure in the host's garden. I would definitely recommend this little hotel and will definitely return.

A lovely simple and typically french hotel

Hotel between the family home and the guest house. A nice garden for picnics and breakfast, parking is closed. The owner is very hospitable, available and considerate.

It's a perfect place for a night out.

A basic room with wash basin: one toilet and one shower shared between nine bedrooms. Yes, it's like going back in time, as far as the 1950s but personally I loved it. The bed was comfortable, the shower especially good, the location easy to find (just follow the signs to the "gare"), parking not a problem and the town a 15 minute walk away. Would I go back? Yes.

Value and charm

We had to stop for a night as we were driving to Spain and we were tired so we opted for a budget B&B but there’s budget and budget it was clean enough the shower was that small you couldn’t bend to pick up the soap that I had dropped as there was no place to put it and you had to hold the shower head in one hand and try and soap yourself with the other hand not easy, it is very basic but the lady of the house was very nice but your back in the sixties with the decor.

Driving to Spain

The owner of this hostel (which to us is more like a guest room) is very friendly! We have 3 young children and we were very pleased with this room. Very good price ratio.

A warm welcome

We spent 1 night in this charming little City Hotel. A family room on the top floor with 5 bedrooms (two double beds and one simple word) So yes we are very far from the big stands with private pool, golf or bathroom. What made me make an excellent note is above all the very warm welcome from the owner who explains perfectly that Do, or eat or go on foot or by car, its availability, the proximity of the hotel which is located next to the train station, 20 minutes walk from the city centre, the quality of the bedding, the cleanliness of the room as well as its functionality, the toilets are a small room outside the city centre so that the interior is in perfect condition, but it is also very difficult to find a hotel with a small parking lot and a clean room.

It's simple and neat

Very quiet location especially on the garden side, which itself is very pleasant. For me it is not a hotel, but a FAMILY house, so much the sympathy between all is friendly but with respect to everyone. The possibility to eat our groceries in the garden, the owner provides a refrigerator to store dishes & drinks. Room always impeccable and free Wi-Fi.
