We stayed in a quiet studio with all the luxury you need in wnter, &t 100m from the beach. . On the parking was a building with swimming pool, a bubblebad and a sauna. Mr. Viellard and his crew is very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was copious. with a lot of fantastic cheeses from a local dairy. lLots of good restaurants in Calais at 5km. The region is beautiful, ideal for long walkings with hills an sea-clifs.

Ideal guesthouse for cold rainy winterime

While we have been in the area countless times only stumbled on it recently,  it is a lovely complex of rooms suites and apartments.  A good pool and nice garden area and only yds/Ms away from one of our favourite restaurants,  the Blanc Nez.  On arrival I was told our room was on the second floor but on finding out about my medical condition the host immediately changed us to a ground floor studio at no extra tra cost. The hosts have been there for 25 years and obviously do everything they can for their guests,  all with a smile . Highly recommended and we'll be back

Another great find

La Maison Blanche has become a fixed part of our Continental driving holidays. M. Viellard always makes us so welcome, our studio is comfortable and very clean and the indoor swimming pool is excellent. This family run hotel is improved each year and is a great place to stay before crossing the channel the next morning. La Blanc Nez restaurant is only a few minutes walk along the road which make staying here even more rewarding.

Our third stay

This guesthouse was simply chosen as we needed somewhere to stay that was close to Calais and  allowed our dog. As it happens it turned out to be lovely. 
Checking in was easy and the owner very polite. It is located in a pretty and quiet town well worth the few minutes drive from ugly Calais and it’s a minute walk to a lovely the beach.
The room was large and comfortable and we slept well and had a sitting/dining/kitchenette area. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that the kitchen and bathroom could have done with redecorating. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to use the spa area but it looked nice.

Last minute pleasant surprise

We travel to France now and again on wine shopping exhibitions. If we are venturing deep into the wine regions, on our way back we usually plan to stop overnight near Calais before a visit to Cite Europe and the ferry home. How come we haven’t spotted this place before? It’s a very short drive from both Cite Europe and the Calais Ferry Terminal.

They offer a variety of rooms from a standard hotel room to apartments. We had decided just to stay two nights in the Calais area and chose a Studio Apartment. It was one room with bed and a small kitchen area with a toilet and shower room off it. For stays of one or two nights, the bed linen comes included. You pay or provide your own for longer stays. It was clean and comfortable and definitely met our needs. There are two very good restaurants almost next door – though you need to check their opening days and times. There’s a boulangerie just down the road – but unfortunately, they were on their two week winter holiday.

The lady in charge was very helpful. Having decided not to drive down to Epernay, we arranged for some wine to be couriered to the hotel. It was waiting for us in our room when we arrived. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great for relaxing – do put the heater on in the sauna before you swim for it to warm up. They also have two adorable very friendly dogs. We’ll be back!

A Great Find

An overnight stay here before catching an early ferry to Dover has become part of our holiday 'package'. The hotel is family run and Monsieur is very friendly and helpful. Our preferred restaurant just along the road was closed so he recommended another (in English) and telephoned to make sure that they were open. Our downstairs room, or gite (the left hand one in the photo above) was simply furnished but comfortable, clean and well appointed. The swimming pool building is still lovely. A very tranquil, restful place to stay before tackling the terrible British roads again!

Just as good as last time.

We had a lovely time staying in Sangatte for 2 nights with perfect weather. 

Our accommodation (2 bedroom apartment) was comfortable and spacious and in a good location. The living room/kitchen was better than the bedrooms, and felt like they had been more recently invested in. The bedrooms were fine and comfortable. The bathroom was a shower room only and small relative to the rest of the accommodation. Management were very helpful in supplying a travel cot (with a comfy extra mattress) and high chair. 

The garden areas of the hotel were pleasant and we utilised the communal bbq and play areas. We were disappointed not to be able to use the pool - we were informed on arrival that under 3’s were not allowed and we were travelling with our 2 year old. Needless to say we endured some tantrums outside the pool building when we couldn’t take him in! 

But overall we had an enjoyable stay and the space and facilities of our accommodation were comfortable and flexible for our young family.

Spacious apartment and lovely location 

The area was very quiet. Most local restaurants were closed; the closest we found (in Escalles) was banal. Closest beach was closed for works - although we ventured onto it for a quick stroll, however being sand-blasted by the wind, forced us to abandon. The Maison Blanche did provide a very nice sauna and pool, which helped warm us up.

The accommodation was adequate for our needs and the small problems we had with the apartment were immediately fixed, with a smile, by reporting them to the reception.
