Before we arrived, we got an email saying that if we didn't confirm our stay, they will let the room go, DESPITE the fact that it was already paid for 4 nights. We have arrived, admitedly early (3pm) and was told by a VERY STERN woman, that our room wasn't ready. we asked if we can stay by the pool, yes she said, but you can't have any towels....
The room-in the annex- was small with a tiny window, no air-con but a small stand up fan. 
Breakfast was just about ok, and we didn't dare ask for more coffee.. the whole atmosphere was very unwelcoming. the door was locked and only the residents who stayed in the main house were given the code. there was nobody to ask for anything, buy a bottle of water or...NO!!!! coffee.....
The exterior is beautiful and very well looked after, pity that the staff had no concept of customer relation. It felt as if they didn't want us there, even though we spoke perfect French.

Very dissapointing.

Our stay has the label “hotel” and that may be true in relation to room size.  In all honesty it should be classified as a bed & breakfast as that’s all it truly is.  Even on a 37 degree day you are not even able to order a glass of water!  Who would think that you have to check if you can order a drink or expect some kind of service at a so-called hotel. Breakfast was adequate apart from the fact that when requesting a breakfast plate it was like asking the hostess for a free stay!  Not to mention the unpleasant attitude when we asked if it was ok to speak English.  Only French channels on the tv in our room and asking about BBC was like asking if we could go to the moon & back!  I don’t think that the meaning of “hospitality” is known despite bearing a 3 star distinction on the hotel sign as you drive up to your destination. An eerie and truly cold atmosphere hangs continually in the hotel. Even the few guests that you see in the breakfast room start to whisper and also look around for a breakfast plate.  Our hostess presented us with tea saucers to use as plates landing quite demonstrably on our breakfast table. 
Not a happy place to stay for your hard earned vacation time and so we left earlier than planned and paid for.  The rooms are ok and the building is nice. 
After struggling hard with the pool gate both ways (discouragement perhaps) we were bitten alive by the mozzies.  It’s a challenge to walk up the path back from the pool even for energetic adults.  Scenery is beautiful even from our tiny bedroom window so don’t expect a panoramic window size. A realistic account of our stay.
Needless to say once and never again.  Sustainable business not without coming into the 21st century when your guests are welcomed and given some kind of hospitality!

No concept of hospitality

We booked a one night stay not knowing our actual check-in time. They were most helpful and gave us codes and direction to our room if the desk was closed. Taking advantage of this, we had sightseeing and supper out, but arrived in time ora pool swim before sunset. Breakfast was lovely and this hotel is out of the hubbub of Sarla. Room was typical but very hot as window opened on to inner corridor between buildings.

Great stopover for Sarlat

Busy eating our breakfast here on our last day. We’ve had a lovely time here, the rooms and building are immaculately clean and the breakfast is superb! Not to mention, the wonderful view.

Wonderful visit

Our first mistake was calling the front desk shortly after 6pm. As we quickly learned from the lecture we received from Estelle two star hotels hours are from 8am to 6pm. This was our mistake as Booking.com confirms their operating hours but I did see
her watching us park the car shortly after 6pm so I thought she was near by.

Our second mistake was requesting a wine bottle opener. Estelle continued her lecture informing us no outside food or drink was allowed in a two star
hotel and that if we wanted to have a "picnic" we should stay in a 4 or 5 star hotel.
As she is going over the rules with me my wife is reading the guest comment book
from a recent guest who enjoyed having a glass of wine by the pool???

With our tails between our legs we trotted off to dinner without opening our bottle
of wine. When we returned to the hotel we had an e-mail from guess who. Apparently Estelle thought we might be hard of hearing so she e-mailed us the rules again reiterating anything we were already lectured on earlier in the evening. Below is the

Dear guests, here is how our 2 star hotel works, we are a hotel + breakfast only. We provide a permanent service from 8 am until 6 pm, we can be contacted IN CASE OF EMERGENCY ONLY 24H ON 24H, if you wanted a permanent service, you had to book in a 4 star or 5 star hotel. The services are specified on BOOKING.COM and are not the same as in the United States. The picnic is strictly forbidden within the walls of the hotel. Please respect the place and the conditions. I could not find anything in BOOKING.COM forbidding outside food or drink. Hotel de La Pagezie has a beautiful view of Salat and you can't have a glass of wine enjoying
the view and early evening?  You can't drink wine in France?

The one time we had breakfast in the hotel it consisted of frosted flakes, pasties and
fruit for 10 Euros but at least the coffee was good. Afraid we might get in trouble again for some reason we had breakfast in Salat the following two mornings having a good laugh with the waiter on La Pagezies "Rules and Regulations".

Hotel La Pagezie was less than half way through our month long trip of Europe consisting mostly of 2 star hotels and we never had a problem borrowing a wine 
opener before or after.

Really difficult to enjoy your stay.

We were there for a  number of nights and found it very relaxing.  The pool is a lovely quiet setting and a sun trap although there is a steep ramp from it back to hotel.  The courtyard view and annex rooms did not have any outlook or views as such as they had translucent roof over the courtyard obscuring the sky outside.  Rooms were comfortable and clean but no coffee/ tea facility.  Breakfast was very good at 10 euros.  there was no bar and no evening meals - there is a half mile of very, very  steep hill to walk back up to hotel so you have to travel by car into town - the owner describing unlit road as dangerous at night - parking is free after seven in the evening and plenty of spaces in the car parks on western edge of town centre.   During the day we found space in the free car park to the north east of town centre but on market day (Weds and Sat) park in free spaces on the road up to the hospital.   It appeared to be a family run business.

Relaxing hotel

We stayed for two nights. The pool was very inviting, the situation just up the hill from Sarlat, ideal and breakfast was ok if a little expensive
We enjoyed your stay and can recommend it
On morning of departure we had no breakfast, preferring a coffee and croissant in a cafe

Lovely

A great place to stay if you want a hotel away from the town.  There is a beautiful view across the town to the mountains and a lovely terrace to take advantage of the view.  Our room was modern, clean and comfortable but perhaps a little on the small side.  Breakfast was great with plenty of choice all fresh and delicious. You could walk to the beautiful medieval town centre but it would be a very steep climb back up the hill.
