Old but well-maintained hotel steps from the Sedan Castle. Well appointed rooms, clean inside, excellent service.
Those arriving by car could go directly to the nearby Place du Chateau public parking (free), 30 meters away from the hotel.
Those arriving by bicycle can park it in the hotel's secured patio. 
The owner/manager was very personable and eager to assist.
There is an on-site restaurant. We did not try it because it was closed when we arrived, but the owner recommended the grill/pizzeria next door and it was very good.
Breakfast is available for a reasonable fee and it was a copious french breakfast buffet with ham, cheeses, eggs, dairy, croissants, etc.
We had a family room at the top floor with space for 2 children and a crib. The kids enjoyed staying in the mezzanine. The bathroom was spacious by French standard and it had a 110/230V multi-format plug. 
Given the excellent location, condition of the hotel, value, and great personality of the owner, we rate this a 5.



Very good stay overall, great service and value.

We stayed for 1 night en route to Germany and were pleased with the welcome and restaurant. The room was small but fairly clean except for a waste bin that was not emptied from the previous occupants. That aside it was overall a good visit and excellent value for money.

Great location with good parking close by

On a bicycle trip, we slept 1 night in Le Saint-Michel and were very pleased. Very kind hotel in a good location, close to the castle and close to the Voie Verte Trans Ardennes, La Meuse à Vélo, that we followed from Givet, at Charleville, Sédan, and untill Mouzon. Our room was quiet and clean, standard comfort, and had a big bathroom. Good breakfast buffet and you can make your own fresh orange juice. The restaurant of the hotel is very good and has a good Price/Quality. And the bicycles can sleep in a safe place. Recommended.

Bicycle trip

I stayed there one night, including 3 course menu, bottle of St Estephe wine, and breakfast, for only 135 EUR. Good food, decent rooms (a little dark maybe), and in the historical centre of the town. Very friendly owner. For that price I think it will be hard to find something better in Sedan.

Rating based on price/quality

We had a very pleasant dinner here on a busy Saturday. We were able to make a reservation a few hours ahead and they fit us in. I had the 27€ menu of ham with mozzarella and tomatoes on salad, duck breast with peaches and creme caramel for dessert, other choices available on that menu. My husband had the large goat cheese salad and salmon with rice and boiled potatoes, a little too much starch but everything was tasty. We had a bottle of Cote de Provence rose for 18.50€ that we thought was quite good. The prices here were quite reasonable. The service is friendly. 

Good food and good service 

We stopped here on our way home from France to the Netherlands after a tough few days since our car had broken down. Owner extremely kind and helpful and let us park the rental car in the “garage” to avoid having to unpack everything and leave our bikes in the car. Location near to the castle, breakfast was good. Dinner good too. Good price quality balance. Kitchen closed early but nothing is normal in times of corona. 4 because a bit noisy with boys on mopeds racing the streets. And room very hot, during heatwave without fan and airco.

Extremely helpful and kind staff

Me and my two friends had a lovely stay at this hotel. Service was very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and spacious, with a really nice bathroom attached. Breakfast was AMAZING with a huge assortment of cheeses, fruits, eggs and croissants. If we would ever come back to Sedan, we would definitely stay here again.

Very pleasant stay

Stayed here on route back to the UK from Germany on a motorbike trip. The owner couldn’t have been more helpful, he allowed us to park our motorbikes in the secure courtyard for piece of mind. We decided to eat in the restaurant after a few ice cold Leffe Beers in the bar, the meal was perfect just what we needed after a long day. 

I would highly recommend this lovely hotel and the staff were so helpful and charming, thank you for making our stay so relaxing. 



Very friendly hotel 

Le Saint Michel is in the heart of the older area of Sedan.  A short walk from the enormous fort, we took advantage of its proximity to take a saunter through it.  Exploring the nearby battlefields, we stayed one night.  

My room was large with a separate bathroom.  No view, but very quiet at night.  Overall cleanliness was quite good.

The breakfast was especially good.  All items were of high quality from the breads, to the rhubarb preserves, to the cheeses (which were at the proper temperature rather than the frequently experienced straight from the refrigerator blocks).  Coffee was especially good and had been brewed rather than coming from a robotic machine.  I also enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice.  The cheerful young women working in the breakfast area promptly cleaned the area and ensured a continuous restocking of the breakfast buffet.

Overall, I thought I received good value for my money.

Great Base To Explore Sedan

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip. The location is really great - especially for the Château. Plenty of bars and eateries around.

The hotel is in good condition and the breakfast was good.

Overall - good hotel for 2 stars.
