What a fabulous little place to stop for a night! I stayed in "La Chambre Orange," which in my opinion is THE place to be. Not only to you have sweeping views of the mountains and valley below, but there is a large, comfortable  tub in the bathroom, and since that room also has a large window, you can lounge in the bath and feel like you're on top of the world. The owner was very kind, and made me a delicious and simple dinner with a savory crepe and fresh salad from the garden. Wine of course, and there's a full bar should you want to sample some of the regional liquors. I've been working all along the road, so I appreciated the Wi-Fi connection, too. Nothing fancy here, but if you like scenic beauty and local hospitality you should stop.

Don't let the street view fool you

We arrived late, and although our host had finished for the day she rustled up the most delicious savoury (followed by sweet) crepes which we enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the beautiful valley where the cowbells and birds can be heard around you. The hotel decor is dated but very clean and in keeping with the timeless surroundings - there is a pride in the home the she shares. The breakfast was served in the morning sun with homemade breads and croissants. The pool, whilst small, is very clean with gentle jets that make it more than adequate for a relaxing cool down after a long day in the sunshine.
Beware, the Auberge De Tournemire is at the heart of Tournemire village.... although if you follow a well known mapping service you end up on the other side of the valley!

Jolly Good Place

I stayed only one night here....arrived very late, as Tournemire is in a somewhat remote part of the Auvergne, and I got a little lost along the way.  It was way past the dinner hour, but the friendly innkeeper welcomed me warmly and put together a delicious meal of local cheese, charcuterie, fruit, and wine.  I was touched that she went out of her way to feed me at such a late hour!

The inn is not fancy, but very comfortable, with a bucolic view out over the valley, with the sound of birds, cowbells and church bells about all you will hear.  The village is classic, and timeless.

I wish I could have stayed longer.
