I look at some of the reviews on here and wonder what people expect. This hotel is convenient, comfortable, clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Ok, it's not a luxury hotel, but it doesn't pretend to be. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and I slept really well for each of the seven nights I stayed.  The breakfasts were substantial too. You could eat as much as you wanted for your 8 euros, (And I did. I really need to get back on a diet now!). It's very handy for the ferry terminal, although I suppose it is some distance from St. Malo's rail and bus stations which are  about 10 minutes walk away through a rather unappealing industrial district. There are local town buses from the end of the street connecting with them though.

Very good, cheap hotel

Stayed one rainy night having waked through the harbour on a mist summer's evening. Found the place without difficulty, helpful staff (owner I suspect), room overlooking rooftops and harbour. We were warned that seagulls would awaken us at first light - correct, but far from unpleasant. Ate at a tiny seafood restaurant directly opposite - almost appeared to be somone's front room, but again good food and charming service. We felt like we'd fallen back to a time before engines because I'm pretty sure we didn't hear any all night (with our window open). After a basic French breaky, we started a stroll and only then did we get a sense of how big a place St. Malo is - but our fleeting delusion was lovely. Absolutely no complaints - basic, clean and comfortable. And the WiFi worked!

Feels like 200 years ago

We wanted a hotel close to the ferry and needed twin beds.  It was a 5-10 min walk to the ferry but the room was extremely small.  One of the beds had to be close to the washroom door.  The washroom was very  small. Wooden floors so no dirty carpets.  A very basic room . Breakfast in the morning was nice and in the dining room downstairs.  No elevators.  Room was quiet throughout the night, but like the rest of France, the mornings get noisy with traffic.  Very basic but served it's purpose.  Priced accordingly.  I believe rooms would be somewhat roomier with a double bed.  Beds were not new .  there are many hotels in the old town not far from the ferry, so I'd try them if I were to return.  They did have wifi and were very pleasant.
