This is most definitely a character hotel as it is an old silk mill owners house (the old mill has been partially coveted to apartments). The setting is peaceful with extensive gardens, a covered pool, large rooms and eclectic furnishings. We were on the top floor so lots of stairs to climb but plenty of knick knacks on the way to make the journey interesting. Parking is a bit of a challenge as is the entrance to the drive as approached fromt eh wrong direction unless you have a Smart car you cannot get in.

Very peaceful, lovely old house and gardens

We had a good time at Le Clos des Ruisseaux. The house is impressive with a lot of authentic and traditional details. The bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms were spacious and clean. We enjoyed our hosts's hospitality very much. They were pleased to share their love of this beautiful region. The breakfast featured fresh croissants.

Very friendly hosts in a house with character

Le Clos des Ruisseaux is not easy to find, hidden as it is in the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat (Google will direct you close to it, but positions it the wrong side of the road). It is worth finding, though. We had a lovely large room in the period house that is warm and  filled with local charm. Our hosts made us feel very welcome indeed, in fact, having understood our interests, they provided us with an itinerary for our first full day there! Breakfast is homely with local touches (a rather special chees on some days).
The countryside here is very attractive, hilly with small villages dotted about. At the higher levels, you can see across the Rhone valley to the Alps. Vienne with its roman architecture and Lyon are both within easy reach.
Note: restaurants in the local villages are good, but there is great uncertainty about which days they are open. Mireille and her husband Jean-Yves are only too glad to phone and book for you (essential). Mireille likes to chat a lot at breakfast - in French, which really helped us improve our grasp of the language! From her we learned a lot about this interesting area.

A wonderful stay hidden in beautiful countryside

We were pleased to arrive at this delightful property. A huge garden and spotlessly clean covered pool. Large gracious, interesting  rooms and lovely breakfast. A modern en suite.  We only stayed one night as we were in transit but we both wished it could have been longer

Wonderful in all aspects!

Located a few kilometers from the right bank of the Rhone river, in a tiny hamlet, among orchards with cherry trees.
House full of character, with nice, spacious rooms. Friendly welcome.
We used it as a stopover on our way to the south, but I could easily spend a couple of days in that area with this chambre d'hote as an ideal base.
