A lovely renovated hotel , love the decor , great view of the abbey and garden from our room , very comfy bed , large shower , we also booked breakfast - lovely fresh croissants, and dinner . We found this hotel / restaurant as wanted to try a Logis . The food was very well priced at 29 euros for 3 courses . The food was very freshly prepared , attractive on the plate and we loved the amazing tastes.  The guys who are running it are friendly and efficient.  Only minor downside was being locked out on 6pm check in after a 12 hour journey, only one large towel between us and not many toiletries! The Abbey and gardens next door are delightful too and worth a wander around the corner for a visit . 

An unexpected gem 

We really enjoyed both the hotel and the restaurant over the weekend. It is a small hotel so it is quiet, perfect to escape the noise and hassle of the city. Our room was in the front of the building but we did not hear any noise during the night. The room was modern, comfortable, and had good bedding. Nicely refurbished old building. Dinner was lovely, I really liked my starter, for the main the chicken was not dry at all thanks to the tasty chestnut and onion sauce. The duck was delicious too, and the pineapple with chocolate sauce dessert disappeared very quickly. The dessert with blue cheese and pear was very unusual, a bit too much for us. We would certainly like to go back and explore more of the area. The managers are accomodating and passionate about their region, the history and nature, offering advice and making you feel very welcome. They are improving their English and will make an effort if you do not speak French.

Delightful countryside stop

We were not sure they were opened on Monday for lunch and after listening to the voicemail 3 times we understood they were closed. After a few minutes they called us back and they were open. So we had a wonderful lunch with 6 adults and a one year old child. All courses were prepared with great care and tasted very fine. Especially the meats, we had fish, duck and veal, were prepared perfectly. A little gem!

We had a very original and fine diner in the restaurant of this Auberge. The traditional regional receipes have been worked in a contemporary style. The atmsophere of the restaurant in trendy, with interesting contemporary pictures on the walls. The service is friendly.

FINE DINER IN CONTEMPORARY ATMOSPHERE

My husband and I arrived late and stressed after a 350-mile drive in pouring rain, several major motorway holdups and getting lost in two provincial towns. But the stress evaporated almost instantly on arrival as the charming personnel welcomed us and reassured us that no, we were not too late for dinner! 

The hotel is a handsome old (17th or 18th century?) house overlooking the medieval abbey; inside it has been elegantly and just-a-touch-quirkily decorated without obliterating old features such as the fine wooden staircase. Our room was comfortable and quiet. And the food they served us in the restaurant was sensational - nothing over-the-top elaborate, but everything beautifully judged. My husband cleaned his plate of every scrap, including ingredients such as carrots that he actually dislikes, he was so unwilling to miss out on anything!

Our only sorrow is that it is so far from anywhere we normally have any reason to go, or we would be planning our next stay already!
