We stayed here as a stop between Mont Saint-Michel and Bayeux and we wished we could have stayed longer.  The hosts were SO kind and generous!  We were there on a Sunday and all the shops were closed- I asked our host if he knew a place where we could buy cider (since that is a local specialty), he said that everything was closed. Shortly afterwards, he appears with a bottle of his own cider, ice cold, and serves us complimentary glasses!  So kind!  The room was very spacious, the hotel itself has been renovated to a very high standard- it used to be a milk factory!  Breakfast was very good- lots of homemade breads, homemade yougurt that was delicious, cheeses and meats, fruit, etc.  I would 100% recommend staying here and make it more than one day!

Fantastic stay!

Our hosts, Patrick and Laurence, were generous, considerate and genuinely hospitable throughout our stay. They ensured that my soon-to-be mother-in-law had access to a wheelchair along with a handicap-friendly room on the ground floor. 

In addition to their elderly-friendly inclination, the hosts ensured we were at all times comfortable and well fed. 

The all inclusive breakfast was very fresh and beared the most delicious croissants, cheese, meats, jams, peaches, granola, yoghurts and more.

The Laiterie’s grounds were very calm, quiet, relaxing and well kept. The interior design was a refreshing mix of classic meets contemporary while the atrium was abundant with natural sunlight, flourishing floral arrangements and stunning orchids.

Our room was also quite the sight, it was very big with both a jacuzzi style bathtub and walk-in shower. There was even a view with a small table for two. The bed was comfortable and the premise felt incredibly safe & secure. It was the first place in our trip to France where we felt as though we could leave the door unlocked while we walked the charming countryside. 

The entire experience was a rural & historical delight. Our hosts guided us towards a lovely beach and an off-site restaurant serving excellent seafood. They even showed us where to find an oyster vending machine that serves 24/7 oysters, lemons and tools for shucking. 

We’re incredibly grateful for Patrick and Laurence’s calming presence and their local knowledge. The Laiterie de Tocqueville was definitely a highlight of our trip and we look forward to visiting again!

Tranquil & Charming

The property has been converted from its industrial past (dairy factory) to provide guests with a comfortable and very pleasant environment. Our room was clean and comfortable although there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. That said a kitchen area is provided for guest use so this comment is perhaps me just being lazy! The public areas were tastefully converted yet still retained whispers of their previous existence down to exposed structural steel beams and roof trusses . Our hosts were very accommodating, helpful and friendly and were very patient with our appalling lack of French. Not being a big fan of "continental breakfast" I have, perhaps, now been converted! What was provided was exceptional with an excellent choice, some home-made offerings and exceptional attention to detail right down to the choice between salted and unsalted butter. The coffee was good as well! Breakfast was taken in a light, airy and eclectic area which hinted again at its industrial past and our host's tastes. The geographical location was good and very convenient for the delights of the Cotentin Peninsular both natural and the events surrounding D-Day. In short our short stay was a delight.

Industrial Heritage to Excellent B & B.

This is a newly renovated and thoughtfully appointed old dairy. The interior is beautifully decorated and spacious, the history of the building evident throughout. We stayed in one of the loft rooms, with a spa bath, lounge and nooks our daughter loved! This is possibly one of the best family rooms we have ever stayed in. There are also plenty of communal spaces for reading or sunbathing. Easy parking if you have a bike rack or roof box. The owners made an excellent recommendation for dinner in Barfleur, just 5km away with a s small harbour and Saturday market. Breakfast was a continental feast of homemade yogurt and pastries etc. We only stayed one night on the way to the ferry, but next time will stay longer to enjoy the area and hospitality more. We met several couples staying longer, including cyclists. All communications ahead of the visit were simple and the hosts spoke good English.

Fabulous location and hospitality 

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a lovely few days.  The owners were very friendly and helpful - we did have breakfast which is extra and it was delicious.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a large bathroom .  There is a little area on the ground floor with a fridge and plates and cutlery etc and a dining table which was so useful if you wanted to eat in. We enjoyed a peaceful stay.

Everything is well-decorated clean  and done with a lot of attention. 2 very nice hosts and a place which is quiet but close to a lot of activities in the neighbourhood!👍🏻👍🏻🎁🎁

Beautiful place  with a nice host

Owners were very helpful in changing date of our stay and providing suitable room when my husband had mobility issues.
Perfectly quiet location in interesting old dairy, beautifully restored and transformed for B+B accommodation. Spacious bedroom and bathroom: modern and well-designed.
Excellent Wi-Fi.
Fantastic array in buffet breakfast (additional cost), locally sourced where possible.
Madame Hiver  responded well to my request for Gluten Free items. 
Short drive to Cherbourg, Barfleur, St Vaast. 
We hope to return for a longer stay to explore the region.

Delightful B+B near Cherbourg

What a find! Good location, short drive from Cherbourg with easy access to all local resorts. 
Patrick and his wife made us very welcome. The rooms were just perfect, extra large very comfortable beds and our room had both a shower and a bath. We loved the decor with the use of pipes.
Breakfast was a delight, with all the usual and more croissants, various bread, ham cheeses, cereals, cakes, the list goes on......And a lovely room to enjoy all this wonderful food.
Our stay was for two nights, only wish it had been longer.

A perfect retreat.

A wonderful house, fabulous hosts, excellent breakfasts, wonderful room. Nothing to fault, I would highly recommend this place. Close to Barfleur and St. Pierre for good restaurants and bars. Good walking.

Wonderfully renovated dairy farmhouse that is well worth a stay. The hosts are excellent and very helpful, nothing is too much bother. Beds are very comfortable, the rooms and house is spotless and breakfast is superb. We stayed two nights and would have no hesitation returning.
