This was a true gem. In the rolling hills surrounded by vineyards, this was my favorite place we stayed. The rooms are lovely. The baths are new. The feeling is divine. The reason? Such gracious hosts who were welcoming, and understanding. I will be back again next time I am in this area. Charming and so lovely! 

The entire region is worth a look. It was only one night, but enough to make me dream of returning. Thank you for returning my earrings that I left, too. You are the best!

I almost hate to tell you how much I loved it

Sous l'Olivier is a nice Chambre d'Hote situated in the centre of the village of Trausse. Hosts Debbie and George made us both welcome even to the point of offering to phone through to restaurants in order to reserve a table. Based on this, we'd have no hesitation in recommending a visit. 

Our room was simply furnished with a good sized, and comfy, bed as well as large area for dressing. En-suite had an enormous shower area with plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee making facilities were included while our view, over the back and towards the Black Mountains, was exactly what you'd expect in this part of France. 

Breakfasts were good and are taken on a table adjacent to a really nice pool at the back. 

For added comfort there is a lounge with television, we only checked out the French channels, as well as a handy fridge for the likes of water. 

If we had any suggestions they would be minimal but would include a full sized mirror in the bedroom as well as a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. Choice at breakfast was, we feel, a little limited based on the other chamber d'hote we stayed in on the way down from the UK but this doesn't reflect from the quality of what is on offer.

Well presented and relaxed stay

One of France's many "chambres d'hotes" which we found to be cheerful, welcoming
and helpful.  Debby & Georges are glad to have you there and you quickly become one
of the "family".  The pool beckons, breakfasts are delicious and tea is sometimes available.  The location is 15 minutes from the Canal du Midi and only 25km from giant Carcassonne.  We took a wine tour from this inn plus ventured forth to nearby cafes
and tourist sites. Mostly we remember how relaxed and comfortable this place was and
how helpful Debby was in making reservations. Try it.

A friendly, comfortable, helpful inn

Just back from our 3rd stay over 3 years, and writing to provide a recent review for anyone wondering if it's still as good. The answer is definitely yes! Great accommodation,great pool, great hosts (Debby even arranged an emergency dental appointment for our daughter with toothache). The village of Trausse is very quiet, but has a small shop, a winery and a tennis court with free access. Caunes and Peyriac, both several miles away, have more facilities; a car is needed in any case to visit the surrounding tourist sites, like Minerve and the Abbey at Fontfroide, and sous l'olivier would be hard to beat as a place to stay. We hope to return next year!

Consistently great

Debby and George made us most welcome in their home and couldn't have been more obliging. We spent 5 days with them and found the location quiet yet accessible to the area. On their recommendation we had dinner at a lovely restaurant in Homps, rented great bikes for riding the canal which we would NEVER have found otherwise, took George's suggestion in going to Colliore  and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Thank you both for making our stay memorable. 20/10!!
