Quite the worst experience of a B&B in France. No reccption staff. Run by a lady who was on holiday and only contactable by mobile phone. Entry via key lock code number, No key in lock. Fridge turned off,No heating on, Bed Small. Bedside lights not working.A few old items left on table for Breakfast, No breakfast service. 


Avoid at all costs. Very poor

We had booked an appartment, but due to a mixup we got a normal hotel room. This wasn't really an issue for us and the room was very spacious and nicely decorated with a nice old charm to it. The view from the room is beautiful, overlooking the little town of Trepail and the vineyards. Unfortunately, the room didn't have airconditioning so it did get quite warm inside. The breakfast was good but simple with limited choice (which is quite common in France).
The hotel is directly located on the Champagne route with nice towns like Aÿ and Epernay on just 30 mins away and the beautiful city of Reims at about the same distance.

Charming little guest house on the Champagne route

There are a variety of different rooms here and it is avisable to check them individually as some are clearly unsuitable for elderly Pensioners. Indidual chalet rooms are excellent.Owners are helpful and obliging.There is no restaurant actually in Trepail.

Good B&B

We stayed here with our two dogs en route from Provence to the Channel Tunnel. The owner was charming, friendly and extremely welcoming. The apartment was spotless and extremely comfortable. We purchased two local bottles of champagne and drank one that evening which was delicious. 
Breakfast was well presented with delicious bread, croissants and pain au chocolate. The coffee was excellent.
There is a large woodland a hundred yards away which was perfect for walking our dogs before breakfast. 
Overall the perfect stopover for us and we will definitely be staying here again.


Perfect stopover

Warm welcome and a good breakfast.Rooms are very varied so avoid attic rooms with low dangerous ceilings.Some beds lack headboards which is just uncomfortable. Ask to see rooms before accepting as there is plenty of choice.Very good Champagne available in village at Claude Carre

Good value B&B in a quiet location

encouraged by several very positive reviews we booked a room for ourselves and our dogs en route from the Vaucluse to the Chunnel.  We were seemingly the only people staying and though we were welcomed perfectly warmly, we were shown a pokey little attic room with such a steeply sloping ceiling that my husband (6'3") could barely stand upright in any part of the room. The adjacent very small shower room was barely adequate and the bed was just a small double.  The views of the vineyards all around are probably lovely but it was raining hard throughout our stay. We had also not appreciated that there was nowhere to eat in the small village of Trepail and had to drive six miles to/from another village for dinner, after a long day on motorways.
The breakfast of which some reviewers seemed so fond was adequate but far from special.  A couple of croissants taken from the freezer and heated, some bread, jam and juice in an echoey empty dining room.  For the price, we felt we could have found better had we not been seduced by the enthusiasm of others.

rather disappointing

Like the other reviewers have said, the place is lovely, surrounded by vineyards, and very peaceful.

We stayed for one night in early July and were the only people there, so we had the entire place to ourselves. Since we arrived on Sunday, we did have to drive 25 minutes to Châlons-en-Champagne to find a restaurant that was open. Otherwise our stay was great and we were warmly received by the owner's brother who offered us a glass of champagne produced by the owner. We bought a bottle to enjoy in the evening after returning from our meal trip.

The breakfast was simple and very delicious: fresh, tasty croissants, baguette and chocolate bread accompanied with butter, marmalades, coffee and tea.

Warmly recommended for a quiet, relaxing stay!
