Yann and his partner Martine welcomed us with open arms.  There was some mix-up with the rooms we booked but really it was no problem at all as the ones we did get were great with a big beautiful bathroom  with bathtub and plenty of towells--an important point for me in a Bed and Breakfast as I swim everyday.  Yann first won me over by his offer to take me to a nearby camping site where they normally rent bikes only to their campers.  Because of his relationship with the owners they also rent bikes to Yann's guests.  But a business card from El Nido was sufficient and I easily rented a bike for 4 days.  My  husband drove me over to the campsite and when I rode my bike back Martine appeared at the window with a victorious hands over her head wave saying "yay--you did it!" Now, why would I tell you all this?  Because that kind of caring about a traveler's efforts to truly benefit from "her trek in the wilds of the Golfe du Morbihan" matters to me.  It gives me energy and excitement about what I can take on.  Yann made a huge difference this way by giving me detailed information of where to go swim in the Golfe.  Waking up at first light before my husband was awake, jumping on my bike at 6:30 am to ride the nature coastal paths, breathing in the invigorating smells of salt-water, seaweed, and the magical maritime pine trees to arrive at the Conleau peninsula by 6:45--this was truly paradise for me.  I then had the "Piscine Grenouillere" all to myself, a huge manmade swimming pool created in the Golfe over 100 years ago with constantly renewing salt water.  (It means swimming pool for frogs--no frogs however!)  A swimmer's paradise. I cycled back after my morning sports to savor the treat of Yann's excellent breakfast where he made eggs for me so that I could avoid eating bread if I chose to as I mostly avoid gluten.  All in all the quiet, the caring hosts, the beauty of the house and the surrounding nature make El Nido my favorite B & B at this moment!

Paradise in the Golfe du Morbihan

We stayed at El Nido for two nights in early June. Finding car access to El Nido is a challenge:  it is not where Google maps or the TomTom send you:  instead, go from Rue St Emilion onto Rue St Bili and take the first driveway on the left.  (El Nido is signposted on the left at its gate.)

It was not difficult to return our car to the Avis depot at Vannes railway station – and there is a Total service station at which to fill up, shortly before the turnoff.  Returning to El Nido by bus from the centre of Vannes is easy:  Line 11 from Hotel de Ville or Republique toward Parc du Golfe;  get off at the St Emilion stop, and walk the very short grassy track of Chemin de l’Hermitage to El Nido.  
On the day of our arrival we were booked for a 2.30pm boat tour on the Golfe du Morbihan and we had arranged with M. Yves, who was very welcoming, to check in early.  Our room overlooked the covered pool and ‘back garden’ and was very quiet, large, light and airy.  Breakfast is served in the dining room.  This is a B&B with personal attention in a family home and M. Yves was a very helpful host, even driving us to the station when we left.  
Credit cards are not accepted so for international guests who have to pay a deposit by telegraphic transfer there are additional costs, being the bank charge in their home country and making up the shortfall deducted by the host's local bank.  For our two day stay these charges represented 25% of our total cost.
