We stayed here for four nights.  We arrived by train and took a taxi to our accommodation (certainly recommend doing this as it is about a 20 minute walk to the station; we did do this walk when we did a day trip to Quimper – fine without luggage).  We received a warm welcome on our arrival and the hospitality throughout our stay was wonderful.  It was more like sharing someone’s home rather than being in a hotel.  We were in the Music Room.  It was clean, comfortable and we had plenty of space.  The bed was comfortable, the shower good and the breakfasts great (all local produce apart from the pineapple).  There is a small sitting room and a small garden available for guests to use.  Villa Garenne is situated just outside the old town and the tourist office is about 500 metres away (flat walk).  Would we use La Villa Garenne again?  Most definitely!

Wonderful, great location, home from home

My wife and I stayed here for 5 night. It has a charming atmosphere. The design and decor is tasteful and well thought out. It is clean and efficiently run. The breakfasts are delicious. And the position right next to the old town and the Harbour is so convenient and close to everything in Vannes. Helen who runs the place is friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay there if we come again.

Ideal place to stay when visiting the gulf of Morbihan

A charming and immaculate hotel with a fabulous breakfast with all local and homemade products.   Breakfast was so good it inspired us to bring back multiple jars of the incredible Breton jams we enjoyed.   Vannes is a gorgeous place to visit and this sweet inn makes it even nicer.  We recommend it highly!

Lovely, comfortable and perfectly located

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon in June. The hotel is perfectly situated close to the marina, old town, shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent, every morning we had home-made yoghurt, apple juice and coffee (you could choose from a selection of teas if you don't like coffee). There was always artisan bread and 3 different cheeses to choose from, you could boil yourself an egg, have cereal and fresh fruit and of course there was always a croissant. it usually took us a leisurely hour to enjoy our breakfast. The staff were charming and spoke good English though I did practice my French. The whole place was clean and tastefully decorated and there was a lovely little courtyard out back. We had a heatwave towards the end of our stay and returned one afternoon to find an aircon machine in our room - very welcome! A perfectly lovely hotel in beautiful Vannes.

No privacy. As a guest I did not appreciated that i have not been informed that a camera is recording in the main room...this is not even legal. I was surprised to see how the owners were coming up from the back door just right after each time i was entering the main room...and then i noticed the camera above in the corner....the house is perfectly clean and beautiful for sure but it s not worth it if the owners are being watching and checking on you...
After a day spent outside, coming back in the evening, i realised my bed was done...but this is not a hotel, i mean all my belongings were all around the bedroom because when you rent this bedroom you are supposed to expect a bit of privacy. Why not just ask guests if they do want someone to enter the bedroom when they will be outside or not? This is privacy and law actually. If you are not ready to trust a little bit the guests coming in your house then they should not open offer this kind of bedrooms service. Or at least let people know that there is camera i' the house.... Never saw this in any of the numerous private bedrooms i have rented along my life.

This was the 2nd time my daughter and I have stayed here. Rooms are comfortable, the hosts are welcoming, and breakfast is delicious. Perfect location when visiting Vannes. We came to see the historic festival and could watch the parades from our room.

Such a lovely cute house with lovely decorated rooms - each of them with a different theme. Nice welcoming owners and an excellent breakfast and location! Would definitely come back without hesitating !

We were delighted to stay at the Villa Garenne. Our hosts were friendly and very welcoming. The villa itself was very comfortable and the breakfast really enjoyable. Location excellent, very close to the port and the old town.

Fantastic discovery!

My wife and I just spent two nights at la Villa Garenne in Vannes.  The property is wonderfully situated by the port;  we were able to walk everywhere in the charming town with its half-timbered buildings and fine shopping.  Breakfast offered by our hosts was excellent, with many choices, including eggs, jams, and breads.  I realize that its central location can make parking a bit of an issue.  This is no fault of our hosts; nevertheless, the free parking lot nearby was full, so I had to find a place elsewhere.  One cannot park right next to the premises.  A few more towels would have been appreciated.  I probably could have asked Robert or Hélène for more, but I didn't.  My fault.  In sum, for convenience and comfort, la Villa Garenne is a fine choice in Vannes.

Lovely visit

Villa Garenne is well situated, on a narrow side street with little traffic close to the city ramparts. To get there we took one of the frequent buses from the railway station to Place Gambetta and walked a short distance. The old centre and all the sights are within walking distance. The bed and breakfast is housed in an attractive 19th century townhouse. As could be expected, there was no elevator, but the hostess helped us carry our luggage upstairs. The place is beautifully done up, with lots of pretty details, and feels very welcoming. The five art-themed rooms are all different. Ours was called ‘The art of photography’. It was decorated with black and white photographs and shelves with vintage cameras. We loved the decoration and the colour scheme. The room was spacious, the bedding was good and there was ample storage space for our clothes and bags. As the weather was very hot, we were happy to see the duvet had been replaced by a sheet and blanket and a fan had been provided. There was no minibar or fridge in the room but coffee, tea and lemony fresh-mint water were available downstairs throughout the day. The bathroom was large enough and spotless and the shower was excellent. 

Breakfast was good. It was served in an elegant room on the ground floor. To top it all, there was a little flowered patio at the back of the house where we could sit al fresco.
