We contacted Mark late one afternoon, in urgent need of somewhere to stay, having 'rejected' the accommodation we had pre-booked for a 4 day visit to the area.
Mark was amazingly helpful and welcoming, and offered us a fantasic suite that allowed us to self-cater during our stay.
We had a wonderful stay at 15 Place Voltaire; the accommodation was perfect for our needs, and Mark couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
We are so grateful to Mark for bailing us out, when we were in need, and for being such a great host.
Hopefully we will get the chance to stay again sometime soon!

This beautiful old house gave my family and parents in-law a wonderful stopping point en-route to a boating holiday on the Nivernais canal. Stand in hosts Jan and Marjeolein literally went the extra mile for us (unprompted, Jan cycled out of town to check that we hadn’t taken a wrong turn walking to a local restaurant  - we had! - and that was just one example. The house was comfortable - cool despite 34 degree temperatures - and the bedrooms very nice. The King Room with 2 single beds added worked well for my wife and 2 kids. I thoroughly recommend Place Voltaire. Thank you Jan & Marjeolein and best wishes to Mark and Alison. 

We arrived with our muddy cycles late afternoon and from the moment the door opened we felt so welcome at 15 Place Voltaire. Jan and Marjolaine were superb hosts for our two day stay on a cycling tour. Nothing was too much trouble, even organising for us to watch the finals of the Roland Garros Tennis Championships. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge available in the hallway with water and milk. Breakfast was good with fresh bread and croissants, fruit, yoghurts, and we cheekily asked for a boiled egg which was happily provided (well, we were on a cycling hoiday burning up a lot of calories). We were sad to leave, not only the property but also the lovely Jan and Marjolaine!

We stayed here 2 nights as part of our cycling tour through the Chablis region.  Mark and Allison were gracious hosts.  We appreciated Allison getting up at an early hour to get us breakfast so we could catch an early train to Vezelay.  Our room was spacious and comfortable.  Our bathroom had the most amazing claw footed tub that I thoroughly enjoyed.  We enjoyed gathering with other guests in the courtyard to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner.

What a wonderful place!  We stayed five days and could not fault anything.  Our hosts Alison and Mark were not only charming but extremely helpful and with a huge knowledge of their area and France in general.  The house inside was a delight.  A lovely, cool quiet courtyard filled with plants and flowers and a great place to relax.  We were with friends so were able to see two bedrooms (photos of ours shown) and they were just lovely.  Spacious and tastefully decorated and even the sheets and pillows were top notch.  All sorts of bathroom goodies too.  The breakfast was continental but beyond generous with a wide selection of fruit, breads, croissants, yoghurts etc.   Vermenton is a great little town with a charming park and excellent connections to all sorts of fascinating places nearby.  We simply cannot recommend Place Voltaire and our hosts highly enough.

I stayed here for a week in August.  The room was very well appointed and spotlessly clean with very large ensuite.  The bed was very comfortable and two armchairs were much appreciated.  Breakfast offered a very wide range of food for the continental breakfast at flexible times.  Public rooms included lounge, conservatory and kitchen with a pretty courtyard garden garden. Free wifi was available.  This high quality accommodation was a perfect base for a holiday.
