This place does not belong to a chain but is family owned. The staff are helpful and efficient, the rooms have everything you need and the food is excellent - especially the moules. Book a room with a view of the sea and after dinner go to the casino down the road. Maybe pay the bill first...

Such a nice place

This hotel is excellent in every way.  From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave the team do everything they can to make you feel welcome.  The rooms are very comfortable and very clean, and the food is really good - including the breakfast!

Excellent

The hotel is in a tiny village which means that the sea is directly opposite. There are just a few restaurants along the front, so be aware that you will need to book any of them. The hotel itself had a small but comfortable family room. It is not air conditioned so it does get hot at night. Staff
are really friendly and helpful. The breaksfast is really delicious. All products are of the highest standard, yoghurts, Croissants, ham and lovely jams. There is also a wonderful brioche toast. We had a lovely relaxing time here.

Quiet hideaway

Always great to get back to this seafront gem.   The recent refurbishment is superb, the restaurant as good as ever and the staff are friendly.   All round excellence in a great location.   Book a rabble, it gets very busy with locals and visitors alike.

Great to go back

Veulettes is a tiny seaside resort on the Cote d'Albatre, less visited than St Valery and Veules les Roses.  The village has a wide beach with pebbles near the seafront, and sand and rock exposed at low tide.  To be honest, I'm not sure why you would want to spend a lot of time in Veulettes other than to eat and perhaps to explore the beautiful Normal countryside nearby.  The only real attraction aside from the beach is the Casino.  But there are two or three decent restaurants on the seafront.  Les Fregates is a venerable hotel, which always had a fine dining room, but which was until recently rather run down.  It has, however, now had a makeover and is marketing itself as a boutique hotel, and judging by a couple of visits this year, is doing quite well.  The food is good.  There is an extensive carte (massive steaks, fish, seafood, and local specialities), and menus at 22 (three courses) and 28 (four courses including cheese) euros.  From the 22 euro menu, I had os a moelle and joue de porc, both of which were excellent.  There was an imaginative selection of desserts.  My partner had a tarte with cepes and potatoes from the 28 euro menu, some beautifully cooked rabbit, and a dome of white chocolate for dessert.  The wine list includes bordeaux, loire, and rhone wines, and pichet wines are also available.  A good place for lunch.  Probably even better to stay overnight and explore the full extent of the menu.

Old France with a modern twist

Surprised to read the previous critical review as we all really enjoyed our latest visit to Les Fregates and have already booked again for early summer.   The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean, and the staff are friendly and efficient.  Enjoyed a really great meal on the Saturday night, great service and food even though the place was very busy.
