A warm welcome, a decoration of libraries, paintings, insects and butterflies, water lilies, a variety of large and varied dried leaves, a good bed, not too firm or too soft, a good couch.

A very talented publisher and painter opened their home for our greatest happiness, and we slept under the kindly eye of Empress and Emperor Napoleon III in the heart of this charming and tasteful home, and what a pity we could not have had more time to enjoy books and paintings.

It's great.

It's a lovely, quiet little hotel. After a good night's sleep and a reasonable shower, you can have breakfast with the caretaker. The breakfast is good with wonderful French croissants, strong coffee, cheese and fruit salad - the conversation in English or French is short, pleasant. The hotel is an exhibition space for many books, a large butterfly collection and Belgian comics.

It is a nice house with good location.
The room is nice, cosy and clean as so the bathroom.
Excelent european breakfast, served by owners, coffe, fruit, croissant, lots of jam, lot's of cheese, bread, juice, etc.
Owners live this house, so decoration is unique.
The wooden floor makes noise during steps . It is possible to hear noise at night.
It's a quiete zone during night.

It's a cosy house.

I needed to find a place to stay for three nights when my grandparents' summer home was broken into in February. Michel and Therese were wonderfully accommodating hosts, even knowing that I was not their "typical guest". They gave me their nicest room, La Deferlante, on the second floor (word to the wise: Be sure to shut the exterior shutters as the street light shines right into your eyes). The room is lovely, well decorated with a large collection of books and various objects. The bed was superb.....some of the best sleeping I have ever had (after closing the shutters!). The bathroom is very clean and they keep extras of everything you might need on hand. I truly felt like a guest in a very special home, not a customer in a hotel. Breakfast was copious and delicious, served in a lovely large kitchen. 
Of course I am a bit partial to Veulettes, having spent most of my summers there. It is a lovely little seaside town with plenty of activities in the summer. This was my first time there in winter. Not much is open but the scenery is still lovely with plenty of long walks to be taken. It was a true pleasure to return to such a lovely room every night after cleaning up the mess the "burglars" made (the house was turned upside down but little was taken and most importantly there was very, very little damage). Crime is virtually non-existent in this little village, we were most likely "visited" by some bored teen-agers.....please don't allow my misadventure deter you from visiting this jewel. If ever we have an overflow of people at the house we will definitely put the up at La Maison d'Albatre!

We stayed at Maison d'Albatre for one night during a three day hiking trip on the coast of Normandy. The historic house is charming and cosy, the rooms well appointed and comfortable. A few minutes walk from the beach and the great restaurants on the seafront, this guesthouse is a great choice if you prefer a more personalized experience. The hosts, Belgian expatriates with a penchant for old books and graphic novels, have a way of making you feel at home from the moment you walk in the door. From the welcome drinks to the free wifi to the fantastic breakfast, Maison d'Albatre will leave you well rested, well fed, and filled with that warmth you feel when leaving grandma's house, but without the occasional negging.

Charming and welcoming

The Chambre d'Hotes La Maison d'Albatre is located in the centre of Veulettes sur Mer. It is a three-storey house. Our two bedrooms (single + double) were located on the top floor and had the common bathroom (only for these two rooms) along the hallway. The rooms are themed, original, neat and very clean! as well as the bathroom. The owner is a very friendly and reserved guy. Breakfast is served on the first floor, and it is likely to meet the other guests of the house and exchange 4 traveler's cheers (language knowledge allowing....) Excellent quality-price.
