We had the most wondeful time, the staff were so accommodating to my handicapped 92 year old Mum, who we took for a meal to this place under recommendation!!  The meal started with a wonderful amuse bouche, followed by a a trout salad with sesame dressing, venison, cheese and a wonderful coffee!  The views from this place are to die for, the journey up whilst hair raising certainly made an impression on my Mother who could not get over the views and beauty of the area.  We consider ourselves to be so lucky to have this wonderful place on our doorstep!

A wonderful birthday meal for my 92 year old Mum!

We stayed here for four nights, during COVID obviously, and had a great time. The rooms are simple, smallish but not cramped, and simple, but covering the basics: tables on each side of the bed, lights too, comfortable bed, reasonable storage space. We were on demi-pension: breakfasts were good, with plenty of fruit; dinners extremely good...we looked forward to them each evening...four courses, skilful cooking. Eating on the wisteria-covered terrace was a delight. Excellent pool. Lovely position on the Lot, with lots to see nearby. Very helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Restful, with fine food

We called in for lunch as the restaurant was on the 'recommended list' at our holiday rental nearby.
We were not disappointed!
The lunch was excellent as was the wine. 
The food (much of it local produce) was beautifully cooked & presented.
Staff were friendly and service was good.
Tables were set on the terrace under a canopy of wisteria overlooking garden, pool & River Lot.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience and good value.
If we visit the area again, we will certainly be eating here.

Lunch under the wisteria!

We have been visiting since 1993. The rooms are typical mid price Logis de France – comfortable, nothing special but how much time do you spend in the room? The pool is a good size and the locality is quiet and peaceful but with plenty to do if you look for it. We are still well-entertained and finding new places after more than 20 years of visits. The main attraction for us is the food. The restaurant has been updated and is bright and airy and the bar is comfortable. However, the real joy is dining in summer on the terrace that overlooks the garden, with views down to the River Lot, listening to, and watching the swifts as they chase eachother over the pool. The food is local, beautifully cooked and splendidly presented by the father/son-in-law team in the kitchen. They cook to Michelin standards but without bothering with much of the nonsense that seems to be necessary to gain a star.

Long-time favourite

A charming quiet village on the banks of the Lot, with plenty of open space for our dog, who was made welcome. We stayed in the annexe this time,the rooms are a little old fashioned and not very well soundproofed, but comfortable and spotlessly clean..but the main reason for going is the food which is truly delicious and excellent value for money at just over 30 euros for dinner. Attractive pool and garden. Highly recommended, we'll be back!

Delightful

I am afraid that our experience of the restaurant in this hotel differs from those of many of your other reviewers.   Perhaps we hit a bad night.  We visited this place for dinner on a Wednesday evening.   There were few other people there and the grey décor did not lend to a cheerful atmosphere.   Nor did the service help to cheer us up.   The waiting staff were slow and severely unfriendly - hardly a smile or friendly word.   Our experience of the food was mixed.   My wife and I both had the same main course, venison, which came in small slices, cooked fairly rare.   While mine was as tender as could be and very tasty, the same dish on my wife’s plate tasted nice but was almost unchewable.   Each mouthful had to be masticated to destruction and the grisly residue then spit out.  This was very strange, since both helpings presumably came from the same source.   Sorry about our negativity, but we did not enjoy the evening, and shall not be returning to this establishment.

Disappointing dinner

While staying in Vieillevie we made a visit on our first night to this Hotel/Restaurant as it is in the village, after many hours of traveling we wanted to sit back and suck in the atmosphere of what is a very pretty area with some food and drink. We were met at the door with a sour look and not a pleasant gesture in sight which was very awkward indeed. After asking if it was OK for a drink we were swiftly told "only outside on the terrace", despite other guests being inside having their meals! After being ushered outside to the then dark and cool terrace (no lights turned on for us) we were then brought our drinks along with immediately the bill, without a word or smile or any detectable trace of service or wishing for us to stay longer! Needless to say we spent the rest of the week driving past their empty/unwelcoming restaurant as we made the 40min round trip to spend our hard earned money in the very pleasant and welcoming Saint-Parthem and Entraygues where you can enjoy yourselves of an evening and you'll be happy to pay the bills at.
